What is the Bangladesh Visa?

The Bangladesh Visa allows eligible travelers to enter the country for tourism, business, study, or work purposes.

This visa is not the same as the Bangladesh Visa on Arrival, and different nationalities are eligible for this.

Do I need a visa for Bangladesh?

Most travelers must either get a Bangladesh Visa before entering the country or can get a visa on arrival.

  • Citizens of the following countries don't need a Bangladesh Visa if they're staying for 90 days or less:

Barbados, Bhutan, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Jamaica, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Tonga, or Zambia.

  • Citizens of the following countries can get a Visa on Arrival and don't need to apply beforehand:

All European Union member states, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, China, Iceland, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

All other visitors must apply for a visa beforehand. Please note that this info can change over time.

Do children require a visa for Bangladesh?

Yes, children from eligible countries must also have a visa to enter Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Visa validity: How long can I stay?

The Bangladesh Tourist Visa validity depends on your nationality. We recommend checking with the nearest Bangladeshi Embassy or Consulate for more info.

A tourist visa is usually issued for maximum 3 months duration with single entry.

In some cases, you can choose from a single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry visa.

Bangladesh Visa: Document requirements

In order to apply for a visa, you must meet a few requirements first. In this section, you’ll find some of the most important documents and info needed:

  • Copy of your passport with at least 6 months of validity

  • Recent passport photo

  • Return flight ticket

  • The completed visa application form, printed and signed

  • Proof of payment of the visa fees

In addition, the type of visa you apply for may need extra documents, such as a travel itinerary or an invitation letter from a business, government organization, or educational institution.

Costs and processing times of the Bangladesh Visa

The processing time for a Bangladesh visa depends on the embassy or consulate you've applied at. In general, a tourist visa is processed within 2 weeks, but may take up to a month.

Why Register with the Embassy

Travel Registration is a service provided by the government. This service allows you to record information about your upcoming trip abroad to the Department of State so it can be used to assist you in case of an emergency. People residing abroad can also get routine information from their nearest embassy or consulate if registered.

Required Information to Apply

Once You Have Registered With Your Embassy Or Consulate, You Will Need To Update Your Data If:

  • your contact details change,
  • your civil status changes,
  • you are going back to your home country.

All COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. There's no need to present a vaccination certificate or PCR test result.

Make sure you get a stamp in your passport upon arrival. You must show immigration officers this arrival stamp when you leave Bangladesh.

You may also need to show a return or onward ticket.

A traveler passing through Bangladesh for a travel connection is exempted from a visa if staying for 72 hours, and no corporate or individual sponsorship is required.

The primary purpose is to allow people passing through Bangladesh to have a short visit before continuing their journey.

  • BEZA: The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority is supervised by the Prime Minister's Office. Its primary purpose is to manage the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), an area where the business and trade laws are not the same as the rest of the country.
