Have a visa question? We'll provide the answer.
Hi Amir! Yes, having an official FIFA World Cup match ticket can help you get a faster interview slot through FIFA Pass (priority appointments for ticket holders) for United States based football games.
However, you still have to go through the normal application process and attend an interview, and they can still decline your application. It just helps you get seen sooner.
Hi James. Unfortunately, each country has its own requirements. A U.S. ESTA (which you’ll need as a UK passport holder) gets you into the U.S. only. For Canada you’ll need an eTA, which is a separate application.
When applying through iVisa, we’ll store your basic details securely, so you’ll only need to fill out country-specific information again, making the process for both documents faster and simpler. You’ll find them both in one handy overview in your account or the iVisa app. No more searching or panicking to find your entry document!

Questions?
No. A match ticket does not guarantee visa approval or entry at the border. Each host country (U.S., Canada, Mexico) keeps normal immigration vetting.
The U.S. has been especially explicit: tickets can help you get an appointment faster, but approval and admission still depend on your eligibility and interview/border checks.
FIFA PASS = FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System
It’s a newly announced U.S. program (launched Nov 17, 2025) that lets official FIFA ticket holders access priority U.S. visa interview slots. It does not skip the DS-160, fees, or interview; it only improves your chance of getting an earlier appointment in countries with long backlogs. FIFA says more instructions will be sent to ticket holders in early 2026.
For most fans, it’s the B1/B2 visitor visa (tourism) unless you’re visa-exempt.
If your country is in the Visa Waiver Program, you typically use ESTA instead of a visa. The U.S. government and FIFA are urging fans to apply early because demand will surge, and long wait times are expected.
Exact lists vary by country, but the general documents you’ll need are:
United States:
- U.S. B1/B2 Visitor Visa required for some nationals; U.S. ESTA for visa-exempt travelers
- DS-160 confirmation + fee receipt
- Passport valid for your stay
- Proof of ties/home return (job letter, enrollment, property/lease, family ties)
- Trip plan + funds (days, cities, accommodation, bank statements)
- If using FIFA PASS: proof of official ticket purchase (to get priority access to interview appointment)
Canada:
- Canada Visitor Visa required for some nationals; Canada eTA for visa-exempt travelers arriving by air
- Passport, itinerary, funds, and return-ties evidence
Mexico:
- Many nationals are visa-exempt; others need a visa via the Mexican embassy near them
- Passport, funds, travel plan; sometimes a valid U.S./Schengen/UK visa can waive Mexican visa needs (depends on nationality)
- Mexico Tourist Card - Land; a mandatory entry form for all foreign tourists entering Mexico by land. This applies even if you're visa-exempt.
Yes. The 2026 tournament spans three different immigration systems.
Even if you’re already in one host country, you must meet entry rules for the next one (visa/eTA/ESTA, passport validity, etc.). We stress planning this early and city-by-city because a U.S. visa doesn’t grant Canada or Mexico entry.
Potentially.
The U.S. has said some countries under current travel bans/restrictions won’t get special fan exemptions; only teams/official delegations are guaranteed facilitation. Fans from affected countries can still apply, but approval odds may be low. Keep an eye on policy updates. iVisa can help you submit a strong application.
U.S. tourist visa rejections consistently point to:
-
Weak home ties (officers suspect you’ll try to stay illegally in the United States to work and live)
-
Unclear travel story (vague plan, inconsistent answers)
-
Insufficient funds vs. trip cost
-
Prior overstays/immigration issues
Expert tips to avoid rejection are to be ready to explain why you’re going, how long, and why you’ll return, and show stable work/study/family obligations at home. Don’t over-complicate the story; keep it credible and consistent.
As soon as you’re seriously considering going - even before you finalize match cities, due to backlogs of applications and long waits for interview appointments in some countries. Even with FIFA PASS, you still need to complete the full process, including completing the DS-160 form, submitting documents, and attending an interview.
Early DS-160 completion and a well-prepared interview narrative helped approval. A safe traveler rule of thumb is to start 6+ months out if you need a U.S. visa, because rescheduling and document fixes take time.
