- Every foreign national arriving in Malaysia, whatever their passport and whatever their visa status. Singapore citizens, Malaysian permanent residents and long-term pass holders, diplomatic and official passport holders, Brunei GCI and frequent-traveler holders, Thai border-pass holders and Indonesian cross-border document holders are exempt.
- What it is, and is not
- The MDAC is a pre-arrival declaration run by the Immigration Department of Malaysia. It is not a visa. If your nationality needs a visa for Malaysia you still need one alongside the MDAC, and completing one does not satisfy the other.

- It applies the same way at air, land and sea entry points, with no separate form per mode of travel. You declare how you are arriving, along with your flight, vessel or transport number and the last port you left before Malaysia.

- Each traveler needs their own MDAC, infants included, and there is no group or family option on the government form. It records your arrival rather than granting it, so the length of stay is still set by Immigration at the counter. A valid MDAC is also a precondition for using Malaysia's autogates.

Do I need a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card even if I don't need a visa?
Yes. The MDAC is a mandatory entry requirement for almost all foreign visitors, including those from visa-exempt countries (like the US, UK, Australia, and EU nations). It is separate from your visa status.
Who is exempt from the MDAC?
According to the Immigration Department of Malaysia, the following travelers are exempt: Citizens of Singapore, Diplomatic and Official passport holders, Malaysian Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders, Brunei GBC holders, Thailand Border Pass holders, and Indonesia Cross Border Travel Document holders.
How will I receive the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card?
You will receive a confirmation PDF via email. You must present this (digitally or printed) to the immigration officer upon arrival. We recommend saving a copy to your phone for offline access. If you applied through iVisa, you can also find your confirmation in your dashboard.
How long can I stay in Malaysia?
The MDAC itself is not a stay permit. Your allowed duration of stay is determined by your nationality's visa-free allowance or the specific visa you hold. Most tourists are granted 30 or 90 days upon entry.
