Our Saudi Arabia visa application process

How to apply for your Saudi Arabia visa with iVisa

1

Complete your online application

Answer a few simple questions to find out whether you need a Saudi Tourist eVisa, a Saudi Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW), or another Saudi Arabia travel document. Then, upload your documents and pay securely. You can save your progress and come back anytime. Most people finish in less than 10 minutes.

We’ll guide you through any unclear steps during the application process.

2

We review your application

The Saudi visa system is known for being a bit picky – your photo must be the right size, and your passport scan must be clear.

Don’t worry – we review your whole application to catch anything that might cause delays. One of our experts checks everything for errors or missing information to make sure it’s ready to go. This review is quick but thorough.

3

We submit it for government processing

We’re not the government, but we submit your application to them and are here for you along the way if there are any problems.

4

Get your Saudi Arabia Visa

Once your application is approved, we’ll notify you right away. Your approved travel document will be sent directly to your email.

Processing time: Most applications are processed within a few business days, though processing times may vary.

Duration and extensions: The eVisa is typically valid for 1 year from the date of issue and allows stays of up to 90 days per visit. Extensions are not generally permitted beyond the allowed stay.

Saudi Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW)

Purpose: The Saudi Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) allows eligible travelers, including certain UK passport holders, to enter Saudi Arabia for tourism, business meetings, short-term study, or Umrah outside of the Hajj season.

When to apply: It must be obtained before travel. We recommend applying at least a few days before departure.

Processing time: Most EVW applications are approved quickly, often within 24 hours, though travelers should apply in advance.

Duration and extensions: The EVW is valid for a single trip and allows a stay of up to 6 months. Extensions are not permitted.

Saudi Arabia visa policy

Most foreign nationals must obtain a visa before traveling to Saudi Arabia for tourism, business, religious visits, or transit. Eligible travelers can apply online for a Saudi Tourist eVisa or, if applicable, a Saudi Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) before departure. U.S. citizens are required to obtain a visa prior to travel.

Saudi Arabia has specific entry rules depending on the purpose of travel. Special visas are required for Hajj during the official pilgrimage season, and Umrah travel is subject to separate regulations. Travelers must ensure they apply for the correct visa type before departure.

General Saudi Arabia visa requirements are:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Recent passport-style photo
  • Valid email address
  • Travel details, including accommodation information
  • Proof of onward or return travel

FAQs

The Saudi Tourist eVisa allows Muslim travelers to perform Umrah outside of the official Hajj season. It cannot be used to perform Hajj. A dedicated Hajj Visa is required for pilgrimage during the Hajj period, and entry is strictly regulated by the Saudi authorities.
Yes. Travelers planning to perform Hajj must obtain a specific Hajj Visa through approved channels. Tourist visas, EVWs, and other visa types cannot be used for Hajj during the official pilgrimage season.
If you are not eligible for the Saudi Tourist eVisa or the Electronic Visa Waiver, you must apply for a visa through a Saudi embassy or consulate. This may include business, work, study, family visit, or other long-term visa categories. Requirements and processing times vary by nationality and visa type.
Transit rules depend on your nationality, length of layover, and whether you plan to leave the airport. Some travelers may remain in the international transit area without a visa, while others may require a Saudi Transit Visa if leaving the airport or staying longer during a layover.
Overstaying your visa in Saudi Arabia can result in fines, possible detention, deportation, and future entry restrictions. Travelers must leave the country before their authorized stay expires.
