Flights get canceled. Trips get postponed. Sometimes you just apply for the wrong visa entirely. When that happens, the first question is always the same: can I get my money back?
The answer depends almost entirely on one thing: how far along your application is when you ask. We understand that plans can change. Here’s an explanation of iVisa’s refund policy.
This article is a general guide to help you understand how refunds work at iVisa. For the most up-to-date and official information, always refer to the iVisa Refund Policy page.
The one rule that governs everything
Once iVisa submits your application to a government authority, the fees you paid cannot be refunded.
This isn’t a loophole or a technicality. Governments typically don’t issue refunds, even when you’ve not received an outcome yet.
Everything in iVisa’s refund policy is built around this single reality. But it doesn’t mean all is lost. The earlier you act, the better.
Your iVisa refund depends on the application timeline
Here’s an overview of the application timeline and refund policy of iVisa. You can check the status in your iVisa dashboard or ask one of the iVisa experts:
Status: Incomplete or Received = full refund
If iVisa hasn’t started reviewing your application yet, you get 100% of the paid amount back. This is the simplest scenario.
This usually occurs right after you’ve paid and submitted your application to iVisa. Maybe you’ve spotted a typo, or realize you applied for the wrong document. In those cases, contact support, request the refund, done.
Status: Under internal reviews = partial refund
For eVisas, if your status shows Reviewed or Info Needed, you can get 75% of the iVisa processing fee back. Some work has been done, so the full amount isn’t returned.
For visa applications with an appointment (like an interview or embassy visit), the refund policy is slightly different. You get a full refund while the application is still being handled internally. Once it’s been passed to iVisa’s immigration partner, that drops to 50% of the iVisa processing fee. And if your completed application has already been sent to you for final review, no refund can be issued.
Status: With the government = no refund
This covers Waiting on Gov, Scheduled, Complete, and Rejected by Gov. At this point, iVisa has done its job and the government has received your application and visa payment.
One status worth knowing about: Info Needed (Gov). This is when a government authority requests additional information after submission. It can feel like the application is still in flux. It isn’t. Government processing has started, fees have been paid, and no refund is possible.
Can I get a refund if my visa application is rejected?
A rejection doesn’t automatically mean a refund. If the government turns down your application, you won’t get the fees back, unless you purchased Denial Protection when you applied.
If you did opt for Denial Protection, the refund is processed automatically. No need to chase anyone.
If you didn’t, there’s no refund possible. The service was delivered. The decision was the government’s.
Denial Protection is worth thinking about at checkout if your eligibility is uncertain or the visa type has a high rejection rate. While iVisa’s experts review your entire application for errors, completeness, and other details, we can’t account for individual circumstances that don't meet government requirements, such as insufficient income or insufficient proof of ties to your home country.
Two situations that catch people off guard
Waiting too long
If your order is more than three months ago, it’s no longer eligible for a refund. If it’s been sitting inactive for three months, it will be automatically canceled. At that point, refunds aren’t available either. If your plans have changed, don’t sit on them, but let us know as soon as you can
Passport renewals
The window closes earlier than people expect. A full refund is available right up until the moment your documents are shipped to you or sent to the partner we work with. Once they’re in transit, no refunds can be made.
How to request a refund
Contact iVisa through WhatsApp, online chat, or email at [email protected]. Have your registered email address ready. Select the relevant order, provide your reason for requesting a refund, and we’ll handle the rest - including confirming eligibility or explaining why your application doesn’t qualify.
If you are eligible, the refund is approved immediately.
How long does a refund request take?
A refund takes up to three business days for iVisa to process. Then, it can take up to 14 business days for it to arrive in your bank account. If it hasn’t appeared after 14 days, contact your bank. Once iVisa sends it, the timeline is in your bank’s hands.
If a refund isn’t an option
If our policy doesn’t allow a refund, it’s still worth reaching out to us. Depending on the visa type, there may be other things to explore: whether your visa is still valid for a later travel date, what a reapplication would involve, or what your next steps look like. No refund doesn’t necessarily mean no help.
iVisa refund policy: The short version
Check your application status first. That single piece of information tells you where you stand. You’ll get a full refund if it hasn’t been reviewed. Partial if it’s in progress. Nothing once it’s with the government.
The sooner you act, the more options you have.
Refund policies may change over time. This guide may not reflect the most recent updates. Check the official iVisa Refund Policy for the latest information.
