Morocco eVisa

Purpose: The Morocco Tourist eVisa is an electronic travel authorization available to citizens of select countries. It allows for short stays for tourism, leisure, or family visits. It must be obtained before your trip.

When to apply: It’s recommended to apply at least a week in advance.

Duration and extensions The Morocco eVisa offers a maximum stay of 30 days from the date of arrival in Morocco. After entry, it may be possible to apply for an extension of your permitted stay, for example, at local immigration authorities or a police station before your 30-day period expires.

Entries: The visa is issued as a single-entry document.

Ports of entry: The Morocco Tourist eVisa is valid at all Moroccan border entry points , including international airports, land borders, and sea ports.

Delivery format: An approved eVisa is electronically linked to your passport, but travelers are advised to carry a printed copy of the approval PDF when entering Morocco.

Morocco Business eVisa

Purpose: The Morocco Business eVisa is an electronic travel authorization available to citizens of select countries. It allows for short stays for business. It must be obtained before your trip.

When to apply: It’s recommended to apply at least a week in advance.

Entries: The visa is issued as a single-entry document.

Ports of entry: The Morocco Tourist eVisa is valid at all Moroccan border entry points , including international airports, land borders, and sea ports.

Morocco Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA/AEVM)*

The Electronic Travel Authorization is required for nationals of countries exempt from visa requirements.

Currently, citizens of the following countries don’t require a visa but must get an AEVM (ETA) in advance to enter Morocco: Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Mali. However, this will be extended to more countries soon.

Morocco Tourist Visa*

The Morocco Tourist Visa is a traditional sticker visa issued through Moroccan embassies or consulates for travelers who are not eligible for the eVisa or AEVM. It allows foreign nationals to enter Morocco for tourism, visiting family or friends, or leisure travel.

Applicants must submit a completed application form, valid passport, recent photos, proof of accommodation, round-trip flight booking, financial statements, and travel insurance. Some consulates may also require an invitation letter or proof of employment.

This visa typically allows stays of up to 90 days and may be issued for single or multiple entries, depending on the applicant’s nationality and travel history.

Morocco Transit Visa*

The transit visa authorizes a foreigner traveling to a third country to cross Morocco. This visa may be issued for one or two transits, with a duration of stay of each transit not exceeding 72 hours.

Morocco visa policy

Citizens of more than 65 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Canada, Australia, and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, can enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes. Other nationalities, like India, South Africa, and Nigeria, must apply for a Morocco eVisa for short stays.

Travelers from visa-exempt countries must complete a Morocco Electronic Travel Authorization (AEVM) before traveling.

General Morocco visa requirements are:

Passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and at least two blank pages
Recent photo
Valid email address
Travel details (such as flight information and accommodation address)
Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of stay
Additional supporting documents if applying for the Business eVisa. Documents include an invitation letter, proof of employment, and business contracts.

How long is my Morocco eVisa valid for?

The Morocco eVisa is valid for a single entry within 6 months of issue, allowing stays of up to 30 days. You must exit before the authorized stay ends, extensions are possible from within Morocco, but only for specific cases, such as emergencies.

Can I get a visa on arrival in Morocco?

Morocco does not issue visas on arrival. You must either be visa-exempted or apply for the correct visa in advance. Attempting to board a flight without the right documentation could result in denied entry.

The AEVM is a simplified authorization required for air travelers from visa-exempt countries to guarantee they can board a flight to Morocco. It’s currently only available to a few countries, but will be extended to all visa-free nationalities in the future.

Can I use my Morocco eVisa for work or study?

No. The Morocco Tourist or Business eVisas are only for short visits, tourism, or business meetings. Longer-term work, residency, or study require a residence permit applied for in Morocco via local officials.

How do I apply for a Morocco eVisa?

You can apply for your eVisa through the government or iVisa (or download our mobile app).

For other visas and documents, you’ll need to complete the application process through the government, pay the visa fee, and in some cases, schedule an interview at a Morocco embassy or consulate.

Do children need a separate Morocco eVisa?

Yes. Every traveler, including infants and children, must have their own completed Morocco eVisa. Parents or guardians can complete it on their behalf.

What happens if I overstay my visa or entry period in Morocco?

Overstaying without an approved extension may result in fines, detention, or future entry bans. You should always apply for an extension before your current permission expires through the Morocco Immigration Department.
