UAE introduces travel ban for citizens visiting Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq due to security concerns

Emirati nationals are now prohibited from traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq - urges citizens to leave

The United Arab Emirates has officially banned its citizens from traveling to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq effective immediately. This decision, rooted in escalating regional security concerns, aims to ensure the protection and safety of Emirati nationals abroad.

Under these new regulations, any citizen planning to visit these specific destinations must obtain explicit prior approval from the relevant UAE authorities. According to the official press release, the move is a precautionary measure driven by current regional developments. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized that the safety of its citizens remains the top priority.

"In light of current regional developments, the Ministry announces a travel ban on UAE nationals traveling to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Lebanese Republic, and the Republic of Iraq," the Ministry confirmed in its statement.*

UAE travelers urged to register with special emergency service

The government has urged all Emiratis currently residing in or visiting these three countries to exercise extreme caution. They are advised to stay away from areas prone to conflict or public demonstrations and to follow all local safety instructions.

Furthermore, the Ministry has requested that citizens in these regions register with the Twajudi service, a government platform designed to facilitate communication and assistance for UAE nationals during overseas emergencies.

Failure to comply may lead to legal complications for UAE citizens

This travel restriction is not permanent but will remain in place until further notice. UAE officials stated that they are "closely monitoring the situation" and will provide updates as conditions evolve.

Similar to previous travel advisories, the UAE maintains the right to restrict movement to protect its domestic interests and the well-being of its population.

Failure to comply with these travel directives could lead to legal complications or a lack of consular support in the event of an emergency. Citizens are encouraged to contact UAE embassies or consulates immediately if they require urgent help while abroad.
