Jordan has announced new measures that extend temporary residency for foreign visitors from one month to three months upon arrival at border crossings.

Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya confirmed the change, which applies to all foreign nationals except those entering on work visas.

Previously, travelers were granted one month of temporary residency and had to visit a local security center to extend their stay. Under the new system, visitors receive the full three-month residency stamped directly in their passport at the border.

Why Jordan made this change

The Ministry of Interior introduced these measures to support the national economy. The extended residency period is designed to attract investors, boost tourism, and support medical tourism by giving visitors adequate time to explore opportunities, attractions, and healthcare options in the Kingdom.

Make the most of your extended stay with the Jordan Pass

With three months of residency now available at the border, tourists have more time than ever to explore Jordan. The Jordan Pass is one of the best ways to do it.

The Jordan Pass is not a visa, but it waives the tourist entry visa fees for travelers who stay a minimum of two nights (3 days). It also includes prepaid entry to over 40 attractions across Jordan, including Petra and Wadi Rum.
