Frequently asked questions about the Pakistan eVisa

The Pakistan eVisa is a pre-approved authorization you receive before you travel. The Visa on Arrival (VoA) has been suspended, and is no longer available.

You can visit Pakistan with an eVisa to:

  • Sightsee and explore tourist attractions

  • Visit friends and family

  • Business activities (meetings, conferences)

  • Sikh pilgrimages

Important notes for business travelers: Most business applicants are now required to obtain their invitation letter through the official Pakistan E-Business Invitation Letter System. The inviting company in Pakistan must register and generate this for you online.

If your country is on the "Business Visa List" (which includes most Western countries), you are eligible for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) that is processed very quickly, often within 24 hours.

You cannot engage in paid employment, missionary work, or journalistic activities without a specific category-based visa.

Once approved, an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) will be sent to your email address. You must print this document and carry it with you. The actual visa/entry stamp will be placed in your passport by immigration officers at the Pakistani port of entry.

If you’ve applied through iVisa, you can find a copy of your ETA in your dashboard.

The standard Tourist eVisa typically allows for a stay of up to 30 days (up to 60 days for some). However, the specific duration granted is at the discretion of the issuing officer. If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for an extension through the NADRA online portal while you are still inside Pakistan.

This document is required for entry into the country by air, sea, and land at specific ports:

  • Air: Islamabad Airport, Lahore Airport, Peshawar Airport, Karachi Airport, Quetta Airport, Multan Airport, Rahim Yar Khan Airport, Bahawalpur Airport, Faisalabad Airport, Gwadar Airport, and Sialkot Airport

  • Sea: Karachi Sea Port, Ghassbandar Sea Port, Port Bin Qasim, and Gwadar Sea Port

  • Land: Gubd Land Route, Chamman Land Route, Wahga Land Route, Torkham Land Route, Taftan Land Route, Sost Land Route, Wahga Railway Station, and Khokarapar Railway Station

Yes. Minors are also required to have this document to enter Pakistan; parents can apply on their behalf. With iVisa, we make it easy to apply as a family by clicking “Add another person” during our simplified online process.

Government processing typically takes 6 to 12 business days. However, it can sometimes take longer during peak seasons or if additional security checks are required. iVisa recommends applying at least 2-3 weeks before your intended travel date.

If denied, the authorities usually cite reasons such as "incomplete documents" or "security concerns." Because Pakistan has strict entry requirements, even small errors can lead to rejection. iVisa provides expert review to minimize this risk, and we offer guidance on how to rectify issues if a re-application is necessary. iVisa also offers denial protection as an add-on to your application (optional).

Foreigners often require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to visit certain restricted or sensitive border areas in Pakistan. The standard eVisa does not automatically grant access to these regions; you must apply for an NOC through the Ministry of Interior once you arrive in Pakistan. Travelers should be aware that an NOC can take 4-6 weeks to process and are frequently denied to solo tourists. Most travelers must coordinate this through a registered tour operator well in advance.
