Poland visa requirements for Canadian citizens
Canadian citizens holding a biometric passport do not currently need a visa to visit Poland for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or family visits. However, once ETIAS starts operating and its transitional period ends, travelers from Canada will need to obtain an ETIAS travel authorization before entering Poland or other Schengen Area countries. ETIAS has no confirmed start date: the EU withdrew its last-quarter-of-2026 target in July 2026 and has said it will give several months' notice. Once it starts, a transitional period of at least six months follows, in which travelers without one can still enter if they meet the other entry conditions. A grace period of at least six months follows, during which a traveler's first entry after the transition can still be made without one.
ETIAS for Poland: A mandatory online travel authorization for visa-exempt travelers visiting the Schengen Area. Once implemented, it will allow Canadian citizens to enter Poland for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or transit.

Do Canadian citizens need a visa for a short trip to Poland?
No. Canadians can travel to Poland and other Schengen Area countries for tourism or business for up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. This is a rolling limit; if you’ve spent time in other Schengen countries recently, those days count toward your 90-day total. You’ll just need a valid passport and proof of sufficient funds.
What is the ETIAS requirement for Canadians?
While Canadians remain visa-exempt, once ETIAS starts operating and its transitional period ends, they'll be required to obtain an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) authorization before boarding. This is a mandatory online travel authorization that’s electronically linked to your passport. It’s valid for three years and must be applied for before your departure.
