Canada suggests confirming with the nearest New Zealand representative before you travel. Your NZeTA must also be requested with the same passport you travel on, as Immigration New Zealand requires.
Will New Zealand accept my Canadian passport with an X gender identifier?
Canada's government issues passports with an X gender identifier, but says it cannot guarantee your entry or transit through other countries. Check with New Zealand's representatives before you travel.
I'm a Canadian and New Zealand dual citizen. Do I need an NZeTA?
Not if you enter as a New Zealand citizen. Immigration New Zealand asks for evidence: a New Zealand passport, or a New Zealand Citizen Endorsement in your foreign passport. A Canadian passport with that endorsement needs no NZeTA. Canada also notes that dual citizens may face different entry and exit requirements.
