Global Affairs Canada says tourists with a regular Canadian passport can get Indonesia's visa in advance or on arrival at select points of entry. The visa on arrival allows up to 30 days and can be extended once, to a maximum stay of 60 days. Your passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond your entry date, with at least one blank page. Global Affairs Canada says different entry rules may apply to temporary passports and emergency travel documents. Since 1 October 2025, every traveler must also file the All Indonesia arrival card, in the 3 days before arrival.

It‘ very easy to apply for the Visa, but in advance it’s good to know that you have to upload a passport photo and your passport from the files

Do Canadian citizens need a visa for Indonesia?
Yes. The Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa says holders of Canadian ordinary, service and diplomatic passports can all get the visa on arrival. It is valid for 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days. You can get it when you land, or apply online for the eVOA before you fly.
Which Indonesian embassy or consulate covers my province in Canada?
This matters if you need a visa from a mission rather than the visa on arrival. The Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa says it covers all of Canada, but residents of Ottawa, Kingston, the province of Quebec and the Atlantic provinces must apply there. Residents of the rest of Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan can send requests to the Consulate General in Toronto. British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Territories residents can use the Consulate General in Vancouver.
Can I travel to Indonesia on a Canadian temporary passport?
Global Affairs Canada says different entry rules may apply to temporary passports and emergency travel documents. It advises verifying with Indonesia's closest representative before you leave. Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration says these documents need at least 12 months’ validity for the visa on arrival. The Consulate General in Toronto does not issue visas to temporary passport holders.
I am a dual Canadian and Indonesian citizen. What should I know before I travel?
Global Affairs Canada says Indonesia does not legally recognize dual citizenship. If local authorities consider you an Indonesian citizen, they may refuse you access to Canadian consular services. Indonesia lets minors hold dual citizenship until 18, when they must choose. The Indonesian Consulate General in Vancouver says a dual-citizen child with an Affidavit is exempt from visa requirements.
