Indonesia visa for Japanese citizens
Japan's foreign ministry says Indonesia's visa exemption is suspended for Japanese nationals. Apply for the eVOA online, then file the arrival card.

Indonesia visa requirements for Japanese citizens
Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Indonesia's visit-visa exemption is currently suspended for Japanese nationals. Japan is on Indonesia's Visa on Arrival list, so you get a 30-day visa at the airport or apply for the eVOA online first. MOFA says the stay can be extended once for 30 days, and your passport needs 6 months' validity on entry. Every traveler also files the All Indonesia Arrival Card, which can be filled in from 3 days before arrival.

Fairly easy to use. We struggle a bit with Technology so attaching the photo took awhile. We paid the tourist entry fee too but not sure what happens to this.

Do Japanese citizens need a visa for Indonesia?
Yes, at present. Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Indonesia's visit-visa exemption is currently suspended for Japanese nationals. Indonesia's Consulate General in Osaka explains that the exemption now covers 19 countries and territories, and Japan is not one of them. Japanese citizens use the 30-day visa on arrival, or the eVOA online, instead.
What visa extension mistake does Japan's foreign ministry warn about?
Japan's MOFA says a visa on arrival issued at the airport must be extended in person at the immigration office where you are staying. Only an eVOA obtained online in advance can be extended online. MOFA reports overstays by Japanese travelers who held an airport visa and applied online for a new eVOA, which is not an extension.
Can Japanese business travelers enter on the visa on arrival?
For meetings and talks, yes. Indonesia's e-Visa terms allow business discussions, negotiations, contract signing and site visits on the B1 Visa on Arrival. Selling goods or services, or being paid in Indonesia, is not allowed. Japan's MOFA warns that immigration inspections have found some visa-on-arrival holders needed a study or work visa instead.
My child has Japanese and Indonesian citizenship. Which passport does the child use for Indonesia?
Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration says a child with limited dual citizenship and two passports must choose which one to use. A child traveling only on a foreign passport, such as a Japanese one, is exempt from a visa with an affidavit attached. Indonesia's Embassy in Tokyo and Consulate General in Osaka handle these affidavits. Japan's nationality law separately requires a dual national to choose one nationality, by age 20 if dual before 18.
