Indonesian visa policy for Irish citizens

Irish passport holders must apply for an Indonesian Electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA) before traveling. The eVOA is valid for 90 days from the date of issue and allows a single entry stay of up to 30 days in Indonesia for tourism, business meetings, of visiting family and friends.

If you plan to stay in Indonesia for more than 30 days, you must apply for a visa extension before your eVOA expires. Extensions are available at local immigration offices in Indonesia.

If you intend to work, volunteer, or engage in paid activities, you must apply for a different type of visa, such as a work visa or a limited stay permit (KITAS), through an Indonesian embassy or sponsor before arrival. Always ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date, and carry proof of return or onward travel, and sufficient funds for your stay.

General Indonesian visa requirements for Irish travelers are:

  • Irish passport valid for at least six months
  • Passport-size photo
  • Confirmed round-trip flight ticket and accommodation reservation

If you remain in the airport transit area and your layover is less than 24 hours, you likely won't need a visa. However, if you plan to exit the airport, even briefly, you'll need an eVOA.

Yes. You should carry both a digital and printed copy of your eVOA to present to immigration officers when you arrive in Indonesia.
