American Samoa is an island located about 100 km east of Samoa in the South Pacific Ocean. In terms of ethnicity and culture, the two are similar. The island is famous for its friendly people and eco-friendly way of life, attracting thousands of nature-loving tourists every year.

It's a gorgeous beach destination with direct flights from Honolulu year-round. But before you go, prepare yourself by checking the American Samoa entry requirements. Do you need a visa to visit American Samoa? Or are you one of the eligible nationalities that can simply obtain the American Samoa entry permit waiver? Find out in this article.

What is the American Samoa Entry Permit Waiver Program (EPWP)?

In the American Samoa Entry Permit Waiver Program, citizens of certain countries can visit American Samoa without a visa or entry permit. If you hold a passport from one of the eligible countries, you can instead apply for the permit waiver online in just a few clicks.

This permit waiver allows both tourists and business travelers to enter the island without a visa. Business travel includes attending meetings, negotiating contracts, etc. However, it does not mean you can seek employment on the island.

Who can apply for an American Samoa EPWP?

American Samoa has its own immigration laws for visitors entering the territory. U.S. nationals can travel freely to and from the island.

The American Samoa Entry Permit Waiver is available to citizens of over 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Iceland, Ireland, and most Schengen and European passport holders.

The EPWP is not available to travelers entering American Samoa with the purpose of boarding fishing vessels or other commercial vessels.
