Our Brazil visa application process

How to apply for your Brazil visa with iVisa

1

Complete your online application

Answer a few simple questions, upload your documents, see when you’ll get your Tourist eVisa, and pay using secure methods. You can save your progress and come back anytime. Most people finish in under 30 minutes.

The Brazil Tourist eVisa is our most popular travel document for this destination. We’ll guide you through any unclear questions during the application process.

2

We review your application

The Brazil Tourist eVisa system is known for being strict – your photo must be the right size, and your passport scan must be clear.

Don’t worry – we review your whole application to catch anything that might cause delays. One of our experts checks everything for errors or missing information to make sure it’s ready to go. This review is quick but thorough.

3

We submit it for government processing

We’re not the Brazilian government, but we submit your application to them and are here for you along the way if there are any problems.

4

Get your Brazil eVisa

We’ll email your approved Tourist eVisa and let you know how to use it for your trip.

💡 Pro-tip: Use a high-quality passport photo with a plain white background – bad photos are a common reason for delays.

Visa types needed for Brazil

  • Brazil Tourist eVisa
  • Brazil Visitor Visa*
  • Brazil Digital Nomad or Retirement Visa*
  • Brazil Working Holiday Visa*

Brazil Tourist eVisa

This is the easiest option for travelers visiting Brazil for tourism, short business trips, or family visits. It’s available to citizens from countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia.

The eVisa is valid for up to five years, allows multiple entries, and lets you stay up to 90 days per visit, with a maximum of 180 days per year. Everything is done online, so visiting a consulate is unnecessary.

What documents you’ll need to apply for the Brazil Tourist eVisa:

  • 🛂 Passport valid for at least 6 months after your trip
  • 📸 Passport‑style photo
  • 📄 Proof of travel plans, such as flight tickets and hotel reservations
  • 💳 Credit or debit card for the visa fee

Brazil Visitor Visa*

This visa, also called the Brazil VIVIS, covers many short visits, including tourism, business, conferences, cultural activities, transit, and short-term study or volunteer work. It is typically valid for 90 days and may be extended once inside Brazil.

*We currently don’t offer the Brazil Visitor Visa, but it’s available via the Brazilian government.

Brazil Digital Nomad or Retirement Visa*

Ideal for remote workers or retirees earning income abroad. Applicants must earn a minimum of US$1,500 per month or have savings of at least US$18,000.

Proof of health insurance and background checks are required. Valid for one year and renewable for another.

*We currently don’t offer the Brazil Digital Nomad or Retirement Visa (VITEM XIV), but it’s available via the Brazilian government.

Brazil Working Holiday Visa*

The Brazil Working Holiday Visa (VITEM VI), is meant for citizens from eligible countries such as Australia, New Zealand, France, and Germany. It allows young travelers (usually aged 18 to 30) to live and work in Brazil for up to one year.

*We currently don’t offer this visa, but it’s available via the Brazilian government.

Brazil visa policy

Brazil’s visa policy depends on your nationality, reason for travel, and how long you plan to stay. Some travelers can enter Brazil without a visa for up to 90 days, while others must apply in advance.

Citizens of countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia can apply online for a tourist eVisa. This visa allows multiple entries over five years, with each stay limited to 90 days and 180 days per year.

Travelers not eligible for the eVisa must apply for a visitor visa or one of Brazil’s temporary visas. These include student, work, digital nomad, family reunification, investor, and retirement visas. Each visa type has specific requirements based on your purpose of stay.

Most travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months, show proof of onward travel, and meet health or financial requirements. Some visa types also require you to register with local authorities after arrival.

Brazil also offers humanitarian and diplomatic visas for travelers with special status or official duties.

"The service was phenomenally quick (got the visa almost immediately!!). A friend who first tried to get her Brazilian visa directly through the government site said you were MUCH superior. The price seems pretty steep -- unless Brazil hassles us and you help us out later. Otherwise, it was just a few minutes' work for your "inspectors.""

"The service was smooth, and communication was excellent far better than Brazil's VSF eVisa. VSF took my payment but never processed the visa or provided proper support. This service was well worth the extra cost."

"The service was very good we didn't pay for the expedited service but still obtained our visas the next day. We expected to wait a couple days, but it was just the next day. The only thing is it is doubled the amount of obtaining a visa through the government website. But also they say you have to wait longer if you are using that website. So all and all it was worth it. We needed the visa asap. IVISA was knowledgeable, easy to use, efficient and quick. We were very happy with them."
