What is the Hong Kong Extension of Stay?
The Hong Kong Extension of Stay is the name of the application process to extend your visitor visa in the nation. Hong Kong implemented this process to simplify the extension process. A person applying for an extension of stay must be physically present in Hong Kong, in case an interview is needed and to collect your (e)Visa.
Hong Kong visitors must depart before their visa expires in most cases. When the remaining limit of stay is 3 to 14 days and visitors know they need to stay in Hong Kong for longer, they can apply for an extension online.

This visa extension process is meant for those who have a Hong Kong visitor e-visa. If you are eligible for a type of e-visa for Hong Kong, you are likely eligible to apply for this Extension of Stay, if you meet all the requirements and are currently physically in Hong Kong.

How can domestic helpers get a visa extension?
Domestic helpers usually have two-year contracts and receive two visas from the Immigration Department. The first one has a one-year validity, and it allows them to start working in Hong Kong immediately. The second one is a one-year visa to be activated when exiting and re-entering Hong Kong. So, the first visa is activated when issued, while the second one requires the owner to leave the country for vacation or to visit their family after a year of employment. They can apply for a visa extension if they still didn’t have the opportunity to leave Hong Kong, which means they still didn’t activate the second visa.
Other circumstances that permit the extension of stay are if the domestic helper does not have a full 2-year visa due to their passport validity, or if the employer and domestic helper mutually agree to extend the contract by a short period.
