Citizens of 29 countries must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation at least 48 hours before departure
![Mozambique launches new evisa platform]()
Mozambique has launched a new digital platform for eVisa and Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) applications, operated with the support of VFS Global. The official portal went live on February 11, 2026, replacing the previous online system.
The platform was launched by His Excellency Daniel Francisco Chapo, President of the Republic of Mozambique, at an official ceremony. The government has confirmed that the old portal has been discontinued, and travelers with pending applications on the previous system should wait for email updates rather than submit a second application.
Who needs an ETA
Citizens of 29 countries qualify for a 30-day visa waiver but must obtain a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorisation at least 48 hours before departure.
These countries are: Belgium, Canada, China, CĂ´te d'Ivoire, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Who needs an eVisa
Travelers from countries not included in the visa waiver list must apply for a full eVisa through the portal. The digital document received via email is a preliminary eVisa, serving as authorization to travel and an expression of intent to enter. The final visa is issued and stamped at the border upon arrival.
Who cannot use the digital portal
Nationals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Nepal, and Somalia are currently ineligible to use the digital platform and must submit their applications in person at a Mozambican embassy or mission.
