Fast, secure, expert-prepared Customs SAG Declaration for US citizens traveling to Chile

Chile visa requirements for US citizens
U.S. citizens can travel to Chile visa-free for tourism or business stays of up to 90 days. Every visitor over 18, whatever their nationality, must also file the Customs SAG Declaration before or on arrival, a free customs form covering the goods, food products and currency you bring in.
Chile Customs SAG Declaration: This mandatory declaration covers plant and animal products, goods, and currency. It applies to all travelers aged 18 and over, regardless of nationality, including Chilean citizens returning home. The digital form becomes available 24 hours before arrival.

Chile visa FAQs
Quick answers for US citizens traveling to Chile.
Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do US citizens need a visa for Chile?
No, US citizens do not need a visa for tourism or business stays of up to 90 days. What every traveller over 18 must do is file the Customs SAG Declaration, a free customs form and not a visa, covering the goods and currency they bring in.
Do US citizens pay anything to enter Chile?
No. Chile dropped the reciprocity fee for US citizens years ago, and the SAG declaration is free; the government states it three times. What you pay iVisa is a service fee for preparing the declaration in advance, for your whole group at once.
When can I file the SAG declaration?
The digital form opens only 24 hours before arrival, the shortest window of any travel document, so it cannot be prepared earlier on the government site. Applying through iVisa means your details are ready the moment the window opens. It can also be completed on arrival: QR codes are posted at the entry points and the form works offline once you have opened the portal while still connected.
Do children need their own declaration?
No, under-18s don't need their own form. Every traveler over 18 files their own declaration, but under-18s aren't left out of the process: the accompanying adult includes them on their own form and takes responsibility for their baggage.
What happens if I do not declare something?
Failing to declare plant or animal products or merchandise, or declaring falsely, carries sanctions and fines under Chilean law. Money is a separate Customs rule on the same form: you declare cash and bearer instruments once they pass US$10,000 or the equivalent in another currency. Handicrafts of plant or animal origin count too, which surprises travellers carrying souvenirs. Baggage is inspected by canine units, X-ray or manual checks.
Do travellers with nothing to declare still file?
Yes. The obligation is to complete the declaration itself, not to have something to declare. Every traveller over 18 files, including those carrying nothing declarable, and including Chileans returning home.
