How to apply for your Egypt eVisa with iVisa
Answer a few simple questions, find out whether you need an eVisa, upload your documents, and pay securely. You can save your progress and come back anytime. Most travelers complete the entire application in less than 20 minutes.
The Egypt eVisa system is known for being difficult to navigate – your photo must be the right size, and your passport scan must be clear.
We check for errors, missing information, or anything that could slow down your approval.
We’re not the Egypt government, but we submit your application to them and are here for you along the way if there are any problems.
Once your application is approved, we’ll notify you right away. Your approved travel document will be sent directly to your email.
💡Pro tip: Print a hard copy of your approved eVisa. Border officers won’t accept only a digital copy on your phone.
The Egypt eVisa is designed for travelers visiting Egypt for tourism, family visits, or short business trips.
The eVisa is available in single-entry (valid for 90 days) and multiple-entry (valid for 180 days) formats. Both allow a stay of up to 30 days per visit.
The tourist visa issued by Egyptian embassies or consulates is designed for those traveling for leisure, sightseeing, or visiting family and friends.
It usually allows you to stay in Egypt for up to 90 days, depending on the decision of the embassy that issues it. To apply, you’ll need to visit the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate in person, submit a visa application form, a passport photo, proof of where you’ll be staying, and sometimes a return flight booking.
Processing times can differ depending on the country where you apply.
*Although we currently don’t offer this visa, you can apply via the Egyptian embassy or consulate in your country.
Travelers visiting Egypt for tourism can also opt for a visa on arrival, which is issued directly at major international airports. This visa allows a single entry and is valid for 30 days from the date you enter Egypt.
If needed, you can extend it at local immigration offices. The visa fee is paid in cash upon arrival, and payment must be made in U.S. dollars.
The VOA is only available to citizens of certain countries, but in some cases, holding a valid US, UK, or Schengen visa can make travelers eligible even if they wouldn’t normally qualify.
*Although we currently don’t offer this visa, you can obtain it upon arrival in Egypt.
If you’re only planning to stay in the Sinai Peninsula, you may be eligible for the Sinai Resort Visa Waiver. This is a free entry stamp issued when you arrive at airports in Sharm El-Sheikh, Taba, or St. Catherine, as well as some land border crossings.
The stamp allows a single entry and is valid for up to 14 days, but it cannot be extended. With this option, you are limited to staying in specific resort areas such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba, and you cannot travel to other parts of Egypt.
It’s available to travelers of certain nationalities, including US citizens, EU citizens, and Israelis entering through the Taba crossing.
*Although we currently don’t offer this document, you can receive the entry stamp directly at entry points in Sinai.
For those traveling to Egypt for work-related reasons, such as attending meetings, conferences, or exhibitions, the business visa is the appropriate option.
Typically valid for stays of up to 90 days, this visa can be issued for either single or multiple entries depending on your needs. Extensions are possible if required.
To apply, you must visit an Egyptian embassy or consulate, where you’ll need to provide an invitation letter from your host in Egypt along with other supporting business documents. Processing usually takes between one and four weeks, depending on the embassy handling your application.
*Although we currently don’t offer the Egypt Business Visa, you can apply via the Egyptian embassy or consulate in your country.
While some travelers can enter Egypt without a visa for limited regions or short stays, most visitors need to apply in advance or get a visa on arrival.
Citizens of the US, UK, and EU can visit Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, or Taba without a visa for up to 15 days under the Sinai-only exemption. This entry stamp is issued at select airports and borders but does not allow travel beyond Sinai and cannot be extended. For longer stays or travel outside this region, a visa is required.
Nationals from over 70 countries can apply for the Egypt Tourist eVisa, valid for up to 30 days for tourism or short business trips. Available in single- and multiple-entry formats, the eVisa must be applied for at least seven days before travel. Alternatively, eligible travelers can get a visa on arrival at major airports.
For other purposes—such as work, study, or family visits—Egypt issues consular visas through its embassies and consulates. Some nationalities, like Indian citizens, face additional rules, such as needing to travel in an approved tour group.
For the latest requirements, always check with the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate before traveling.
