Most travelers need a visa to enter Oman, but the country offers a robust electronic visa system (eVisa) that has simplified travel for tourism, family visits, and short business trips.
Citizens of GCC countries do not need a visa for short visits to Oman. Residents of GCC countries with eligible professions can apply online for an eVisa before traveling, allowing a 30-day stay, with the possibility of a single extension for another 30 days.
For over 70 eligible nationalities, Oman offers an unsponsored eVisa system, allowing travelers to apply online through the Royal Oman Police (ROP) portal. The standard eVisa allows a 30-day stay for tourism or family visits, and some travelers may be eligible for a multiple-entry eVisa valid for one year, allowing stays of up to 30 days per visit.
For longer stays and specialized purposes, Oman uses a sponsor-based visa system. Employers, family members, or Omani institutions act as sponsors, submitting visa applications online or through authorized channels within Oman. This system is used for employment, family joining, student visas, investor visas, and other long-term residency options.
Overstaying is taken seriously in Oman. Fines are imposed for overstays, and significant violations can result in detention, deportation, or bans on re-entry. You should carefully track their authorized stay and apply for extensions before their visa expires if needed.
Applying for a visa on your own can be confusing and time-consuming. iVisa simplifies the process, reduces errors, and gives you peace of mind
