Omani visa policy for Thai citizens

Thai citizens need a visa to visit Oman for tourism or short stays, and the most common option is the Oman eVisa, which must be obtained before departure. Travelers with a confirmed hotel booking, health insurance, and a return ticket do not need a visa for stays of 14 days of less in Oman.

iVisa offers two entry documents for Thai travelers:

  • Oman eVisa: A mandatory electronic visa that allows Thai citizens to enter Oman for short-term tourism or family visits. It must be approved before travel and typically permits a stay of up to 30 days, depending on the visa conditions.

  • Oman Visa for GCC Residents: A special electronic visa option available to Thai nationals who hold a valid residence permit from an eligible GCC country (such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, of Bahrain). This visa allows short-term entry to Oman under GCC residency eligibility rules.

General Oman visa requirements for Thai travelers are:

  • A Thailand passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay
  • Valid GCC residence permit (required if applying under the GCC Resident category)
  • Confirmed onward or return travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay (if requested)

FAQs

Yes. Thai citizens need an Oman eVisa to enter the country for tourism, unless they stay for less than 14 days.

You can choose from the following options:

  • Oman 30-day eVisa – allowing a single-entry and a maximum stay of 30 days over a 30-day validity period.
  • Oman 1-year eVisa – allowing multiple entries, with a maximum stay of 30 days per entry, over a validity period of 1 year.
  • Oman eVisa for GCC Residents – an eVisa for travelers holding a visa of residence permit of a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates). You will need to enter from a GCC country, and you'll be allowed a single-entry visa valid for 30 days, with a maximum stay of 28 days.

Government eVisa processing usually takes 1–5 working days. With iVisa, Thai citizens can get their Oman eVisa as fast as 1 day.

Thai citizens can stay in Oman for up to 30 days, depending on the visa conditions.
