Bahrain visa policy

Bahrain offers a Visa on Arrival for citizens of over 65 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, EU member states, Australia, and Japan, for stays ranging from 14 to 30 days. However, it's preferred to apply for the Bahrain Tourist eVisa in advance to avoid queues and have peace of mind before your go.

Citizens of GCC countries (Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE) do not require a visa and may enter using a national ID card.

General Bahrain visa requirements are:

  • Passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and at least one blank page

  • Recent passport photo

  • Travel details (such as a confirmed return or onward flight ticket and accommodation address/hotel booking)

  • Proof of sufficient financial means (such as a bank statement from the last three months with a minimum balance of $1,000)

  • Additional supporting documents depending on visa type (e.g., a letter of invitation for a Business eVisa or a CPR copy of a relative for a Family Visit Visa)

FAQs

This visa allows you to stay in the country for either 14 or 30 days, depending on your nationality and the validity you've chosen during the application.

If you’re unclear, you can contact us on WhatsApp – we're available 24/7.

The Bahrain eVisa is usually processed quickly. With iVisa, you can get your Bahrain eVisa in as little as 1 day (depending on your application and chosen delivery speed).

We recommend applying at least 5 days before your departure date to account for any unexpected government delays.

A visa on arrival is available for some nationalities, but not all. While travelers from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, EU member states, Canada, and a few others may still be eligible to receive a visa upon arrival at the airport in Bahrain, this option is not guaranteed.

Rules often change without advance notice, and travelers report occasional long queues or complications.

It does not grant automatic visa-free entry, but it heavily simplifies the process. If you hold a valid, active residence permit or visit visa from a GCC country (valid for at least 3 months upon entry), you are fast-tracked for eligibility to apply for a Bahrain eVisa online or obtain a visa on arrival.

Yes, it is possible to extend your Bahrain eVisa in many cases, but you must apply before your current visa expires.

Extensions are handled by the NPRA and may require you to visit their office in Bahrain or complete the process online, depending on your visa type. Extensions are generally granted in 14- or 30-day increments and may come with additional fees.

If you overstay your visa without applying for an extension, you risk fines or complications with future travel to Bahrain or the wider Gulf region.

No, you cannot work in Bahrain on a Tourist eVisa. This visa is strictly for leisure travel or family visits, and any kind of paid employment or freelance activity is prohibited under this visa category. If you are caught working on a tourist visa, you risk fines, detention, or a ban from re-entering Bahrain.

Yes. There are no age exemptions for this visa; every traveler, including infants and children, must have their own individual visa linked to their passport. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must submit a separate application on their behalf. Along with a clear passport scan, you should be prepared to provide the minor's birth certificate and, if they are traveling alone or with only one parent, a notarized consent letter from the non-traveling parent(s).

Once your Bahrain Tourist eVisa application is approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email. We highly recommend printing a physical copy of the visa to present to your airline during check-in and to immigration officers at the border checkpoint upon arrival.

If denied, you will receive a notification via email. The most common reason for denial is having a typo in your passport info. You can usually re-apply by submitting a completely new application with corrected information.

iVisa offers denial protection. Our experts manually review your application before submission to prevent these common issues.
