Bahrain has a relatively liberal visa policy aimed at encouraging tourism, investment, and short-term visits. Citizens of more than 100 countries are eligible to apply for a Bahrain Tourist eVisa online in advance of travel. Some nationalities may also qualify for a visa on arrival at the airport, but applying online is highly recommended to avoid long queues or possible entry delays.
The standard Tourist eVisa is typically issued for 14 or 30 days, with options for single or multiple entry depending on your nationality and travel purpose. Extensions may be granted through Bahrain’s Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs (NPRA), but applications must be submitted before your initial visa expires. The eVisa cannot be used for work, long-term study, or residency purposes.
In addition to the eVisa, Bahrain offers other visa types, such as business, family visit, student, and employment visas. These must be obtained through sponsorship or direct application with the NPRA. Travelers entering Bahrain must hold a passport valid for at least six months, proof of onward or return travel, and details of accommodation.
Bahrain also introduced a 10-year Golden Residency Visa for investors, property owners, and high-income individuals contributing to the national economy. This long-term visa offers more flexibility and allows holders to live, work, and study in the country without the need for a local sponsor.
While some Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) residents may qualify for streamlined visa access, eligibility depends on both nationality and occupation. Overstaying a Bahraini visa can lead to fines, detention, or future entry bans, so travelers should carefully monitor the expiry date of their stay and apply for an extension in advance if necessary. All visa and entry regulations are enforced by the NPRA, and failure to comply may impact future travel to Bahrain or the wider Gulf region.
Applying for a visa on your own can be confusing and time-consuming. iVisa simplifies the process, reduces errors, and gives you peace of mind

During peak travel seasons or public holidays in Bahrain, processing may take slightly longer. It’s always a good idea to apply at least a week in advance to avoid unexpected delays.
This visa allows you to stay in the country for either 14 or 30 days, depending on your eligibility and whether you apply for a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. If you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 30 days, you'll need a different type of visa issued through Bahrain’s Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs (NPRA) or through a sponsor in Bahrain. Always check the latest requirements for your nationality before booking your trip.
For other visas, you’ll need to complete the application process through the government, pay the visa fee, and in some cases, schedule an interview at a Bahrain embassy or consulate.
Supporting documents like your passport, photo, and purpose of travel are required.
Rules often change without advance notice, and travelers report occasional long queues or complications.
Extensions are handled by the NPRA and may require you to visit their office in Bahrain or complete the process online, depending on your visa type. Extensions are generally granted in 14- or 30-day increments and may come with additional fees.
If you overstay your visa without applying for an extension, you risk fines or complications with future travel to Bahrain or the wider Gulf region.
We then send it to the government for processing on your behalf.
Once your visa is approved, we’ll then email you your document.
In the meantime, download the iVisa app, so you can access your travel documents while you're on the go.
