Frequently asked questions about the Honduras Traveler Declaration

Yes, you still need it. Even if you already have a physical or electronic visa (like a tourist, business, or student visa) to enter Honduras, the Traveler Declaration is a separate entry requirement. A visa gives you permission to enter the country, but the Traveler Declaration (specifically the Electronic Customs Declaration) is a mandatory security and customs protocol for everyone crossing the border.

As of December 12, 2023, the Honduran government removed the mandatory Pre-check for most nationalities. Currently, it is only mandatory for Nicaraguan citizens, who must complete it at least 7 days before travel.

However, all travelers must still complete the Electronic Customs Declaration (Traveler Declaration).

You will receive a confirmation document containing a QR code via email. Important: You should keep a digital copy on your phone, but it is highly recommended to have a printed copy available, as some border points or airlines may require a physical version for scanning. You can find a digital version in your iVisa dashboard, if you’ve applied through us.
For most visa-exempt nationalities (like the US, Canada, and EU citizens), you are typically granted a stay of up to 90 days upon arrival.

  • Honduras is part of the CA-4 Border Control Agreement. This means your 90-day limit is shared across El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
  • The exact duration of your stay is always at the discretion of the immigration officer.
Yes. Every traveler must be included. For families, the "Head of Household" can often complete a single Customs Declaration for the entire group, but individual immigration records may still be required.

If traveling with minors, ensure you have the necessary notarized permission letters if one or both parents are not present.

You can use iVisa’s "Add another person" feature to easily manage applications for the whole family in one session, saving time and effort.

The Electronic Customs Declaration should be completed within 5 days prior to your arrival in or departure from Honduras.

iVisa lets you fill out your form early, so you can have peace of mind in advance. We’ll submit your info to the government as soon as the window opens.

Yes. You can generally apply for a one-time extension of an additional 90 days at the National Institute of Migration (INM) offices within Honduras. You must do this before your initial 90-day period expires.
