Laos Digital Immigration Form requirements
Every foreign traveler must submit the Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) before entering or leaving Laos. It replaced the paper arrival and departure cards on 1 September 2025, and it applies to everyone regardless of nationality — visa holders, visa-exempt visitors, diplomats and children included.
The LDIF is a registration, not a visa. It does not grant entry or permission to stay; you still need the right visa for your trip, or to qualify for visa-free entry. You must register within 3 days of travel and you will receive a QR code to show at the border.

Doing very well and take a short time to apply to get a visa
Excellent experience to ask and get e visa to Laos. However , too expansive !
Was easy to use and I received regular updates on the status of my Visa application.
I Visa is the way to go when you need to get visas for foreign travel. They are quick, easy , and responsive. I accidentally did duplicate applications for Cambodia and they quickly deleted it and refunded my feet. They take the stress out of the whole thing. Bravo.

Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Is the Laos Digital Immigration Form a substitute for a Laos visa or eVisa?
No. The Laos Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) is a mandatory digital arrival and departure registration, not a visa. Holding an approved digital form doesn't grant entry on its own; you must still possess a valid eVisa, Visa on Arrival (VoA), or qualify for a visa exemption.
Who is required to complete the Laos Digital Immigration Form?
All foreign nationals and stateless travelers entering or exiting Laos are required to complete the digital immigration form. This includes tourists, business travelers, and citizens of visa-exempt countries. Only Lao citizens are out of scope — no exemption is published for anyone else, diplomatic and official passport holders included.
How far in advance must I submit the Laos Digital Immigration Form?
You must submit the arrival form online within 3 days (72 hours) prior to your scheduled arrival in Laos. This is a narrow window, not a minimum — you cannot register earlier, because the QR code the government issues is valid for 3 days. You must also complete a separate departure registration within 3 days before your departure date from the country.
How do I present the approved Digital Immigration Form to border officials?
Once you submit your details online, you’ll receive a confirmation containing a unique QR code. You can save a screenshot of the QR code on your mobile device or print a paper copy to present to immigration officers alongside your passport and visa upon arrival.
Does the Laos Digital Immigration Form apply to land border crossings?
Partially. At launch the digital immigration form covers four checkpoints: Wattay International Airport, Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakse International Airport, and one land crossing — the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge I. The government has announced expansion to all international checkpoints; travelers arriving elsewhere are still processed on paper.
Do children need their own LDIF?
Yes. Every traveler on a passport must be registered, children included. The government form takes one person at a time, so a family fills it in separately for each member; applying through iVisa covers everyone in one submission.
Do I need the LDIF if I am only transiting through Laos?
Yes. Transit is one of the permitted purposes and the registration is still required. Note that the government form labels its transit option "Tourism", which is one of the mistakes we catch for you.
Is the government form free?
Yes, the government charges nothing for the LDIF. What you pay iVisa is a service fee for completing it in your language, checking your passport image and your purpose of travel, and supporting you outside Lao office hours.
