Laos Tourist eVisa

Purpose: The Laos Tourist eVisa allows eligible travelers to visit Laos for tourism and short leisure stays.

When to apply: It must be obtained before travel. We recommend applying at least a few days before departure.

Processing time: Most applications are processed within a few business days, though processing times may vary depending on nationality and application volume.

Duration and extensions: The eVisa typically allows a stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry. Extensions may be possible through the Lao immigration authorities, subject to approval.

Entries: Single entry.

Ports of entry: The eVisa is valid only at designated international airports and specific land border checkpoints. Travelers must enter through an approved entry point.

Delivery format: This is a digital visa issued online. Travelers must present the approved eVisa upon arrival in Laos.

Visa on Arrival*

Laos offers a Visa on Arrival to eligible nationalities at designated international airports and certain land border crossings. It allows short tourism stays and is issued upon arrival after submitting the required documents and paying the applicable fee. Eligibility depends on nationality and point of entry.

Transit Visa (Tr-B3)*

The Laos Transit Visa (Tr-B3) is issued to travelers passing through Laos on their way to another destination. It allows a short stay in the country for transit purposes only and does not permit tourism or business activities. Approval and eligibility depend on nationality and travel itinerary.

Business Visa (N1-B2)*

The Laos Business Visa (N1-B2) is issued to travelers visiting Laos for business-related activities such as meetings, negotiations, or professional engagements. It must be obtained in advance and may require sponsorship or supporting documents from a company registered in Laos.

Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF)*

The Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) is a mandatory online registration system that officially replaced traditional paper arrival and departure cards in late 2025.

It is designed to speed up the entry process at major hubs like Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and Pakse.All foreign travelers - including those who already have an eVisa or are from visa-exempt countries - must complete this form within 3 days (72 hours) before arriving in or departing from Laos.

Once you submit your details on the official immigration portal, you'll receive a QR code that you must present to the border officer (either on your phone or printed) to be scanned.It is important to remember that this form is not a visa.

Laos visa policy

Most travelers must obtain a visa before traveling to Laos, unless they are from a visa-exempt country for short stays. Eligible nationalities can apply online for a Laos Tourist eVisa before departure or obtain a Visa on Arrival at designated entry points.

The most important new step in addition to a visa, is completing the Lao Digital Immigration Form online within 72 hours of your arrival.
