Who it's for
Visa-exempt travelers going to Suriname. Children pay from the age of three, with guardians responsible for payment, while the youngest children are exempt. Diplomatic and service passport holders, CARICOM and Vatican passport holders, residents and travelers with a still-valid visa do not pay it.
What it covers
Tourism and visits to friends or family only. It replaces the old tourist card for eligible nationalities. It is not a visa. Business, study, work and transit all need an eVisa instead.
Entry points
Air, land and sea. Airlines check the voucher at check-in before boarding. Passengers who stay airside need neither this nor a visa, and leaving the airport during a layover requires a transit visa rather than this payment.
Delivery format
A digital voucher. You receive a payment confirmation email with a reference number, which you present at check-in and again on arrival.
Good to know
There is no extension mechanism, and it is paid per trip. You upload a scan of your passport photo page at the start of the application, but no photograph is needed. Single-entry and multiple-entry options exist.

Valid for 50 days

Suriname visa FAQs

Quick answers to the most common questions about the Suriname Entry Fee.

Still have questions?

Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.

Does the Suriname Entry Fee replace the visa for US, UK, and EU citizens?

Yes. Since 2022, citizens of over 50 countries (including the US, UK, Canada, and EU nations) are visa-exempt for tourism. However, you aren't exempt from payment; you must pay the Suriname Entry Fee online before your trip to be granted entry.

Can I pay the Suriname Entry Fee upon arrival in Paramaribo?

While there are kiosks at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport, the Surinamese government strongly recommends paying online before departure. Airlines may deny boarding if you don't present the voucher during check-in. It's best to have the printed voucher ready before you fly.

How many times can I enter Suriname with one Entry Fee?

The Entry Fee is for a single entry only. Every time you exit and re-enter Suriname—even if you're coming back from a quick trip to neighboring Guyana or French Guiana—you must pay the fee again and obtain a new voucher.

Do children/minors need their own Suriname Entry Fee?

Yes. There are no age exemptions for the Entry Fee. Every traveler, including infants and minors, must have their own individual payment voucher.

How long is the Suriname Entry Fee valid for?

Once approved, your Entry Fee voucher is typically valid for up to 90 days from the date of issuance (check your specific voucher for the expiry date). Once you enter, you’re usually permitted to stay for up to 90 days for tourism purposes.

Can I buy the Suriname Entry Fee after I arrive?

No. To benefit from the visa fee waiver, you must purchase the Suriname Entry Fee online before you enter Suriname. If you buy it after passing through immigration, you'll have already paid the visa fee, and it won't be refunded.

Can I extend my stay beyond the 90 days granted?

The Entry Fee allows for a stay of up to 90 days. If you wish to stay longer, you must visit the Immigration Office (Vreemdelingenzaken) in Paramaribo to apply for an extension or a residency permit. Staying past your allotted time without an extension results in fines upon departure.

Is the Suriname Entry Fee valid for business trips?

No. The Entry Fee is strictly for tourism and family visits. If you're traveling for business, employment, or study, you're not eligible for the Entry Fee and must apply for the appropriate Suriname eVisa through the official portal.

How will I receive the Suriname Entry Fee?

Once your Suriname Entry Fee application is approved, you’ll receive an email with a PDF. We recommend printing a physical copy to present to airline staff before boarding and to immigration officers upon arrival at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport.

How long does the Suriname Entry Fee processing take?

The Suriname Entry Fee is usually processed quickly. With iVisa, you can get your Suriname Entry Fee in as fast as 15 minutes. We recommend applying at least 2 days before your departure date to account for any unexpected government delays.

What happens if my Suriname Entry Fee application is denied?

If denied, you will receive a notification via email. The most common reasons for denial are data entry errors or poor-quality document scans. You can usually re-apply by submitting a completely new application with corrected information. iVisa offers denial protection. Our experts manually review your passport scan and flight details before submission to prevent these common issues.

Why travelers choose iVisa

On your own

  • The official portal is offered in English and Dutch only.
  • The government flow opens with a compulsory passport photo-page scan before you can see the form or what your options are.
  • The government accepts a narrow set of cards with mandatory 3D Secure, in two currencies only.
  • The portal's own FAQ link returns an access error, deep links break, and its pages contradict each other on when the multiple-entry option starts running.
  • Support runs limited weekday phone hours with no weekend cover.
  • We take your details in your own language and complete the official steps for you.
  • You can see what is involved and what it covers before you commit to anything.
  • We offer more payment methods and more currencies, so a card the official portal turns away is not a dead end.
  • We give you one consistent explanation of what you are buying and when it applies.
  • Our support team is available around the clock, whenever you are filling in the form.
