Trinidad and Tobago Online Arrival Card requirements

Since March 17, 2026 every passenger arriving in or leaving Trinidad and Tobago must file the Online Arrival/Departure Card. It replaced the paper immigration and customs cards that used to be handed out on the plane, and it merges both into a single submission that produces a QR-code receipt for immigration and customs officers.

Two things about it catch travellers out. First, a round trip means two separate submissions — the arrival card and the departure card are filed independently, with their own QR codes and no reminder from the government about the second one. Second, the portal will not accept your details until 72 hours before travel, so it cannot be dealt with in advance while you are still planning.

  • A lot of information requested which is to be understood and this platform made navigation quite easy. Two separate travellers were involved and after completion of the first form, the second was completed in half the time.It was encouraging to see that after details had been filled in that the transfer of other material as in copies of vaccine cards, Covid test results was equally smooth. Excellent turnaround.

Trinidad and Tobago visa FAQs

Quick answers to the most common questions about the Trinidad and Tobago Online Arrival Card.

Still have questions?

Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.

Is the Trinidad and Tobago Online Arrival Card a visa?

No. It is the digital version of the immigration and customs forms that used to be filled in on the plane. It grants no right to enter and no length of stay — the immigration officer decides that on arrival. Visa rules are separate, and travellers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, most of the EU and CARICOM visit without a visa.

Who has to file it?

Every passenger arriving in or leaving Trinidad and Tobago, whatever their nationality, since it became mandatory on March 17, 2026. That includes returning nationals and residents, not just visitors.

Do I really need two forms for one trip?

Yes. The arrival card and the departure card are separate submissions, each producing its own QR-code receipt, and the government sends no reminder about the second one. It is the most-missed step in the whole process.

How early can I submit it?

72 hours before arrival or departure, and no earlier — the portal will not take your details outside that window. Travellers who try to file a month ahead often think the website is broken.

Do children need their own card?

No. Children under 18 travelling with a parent, and a spouse, are included on the head of family's submission. The cap is 10 family members alongside the head of family, 11 travellers in all, and a larger party has to be split across more than one submission.

Why won't the portal accept my passport photo?

It accepts .jpg, .jpeg and .png only. iPhones save photos as HEIC by default and phone scanners produce PDFs, and both are rejected with a bare "Invalid file type" message that does not say what went wrong.

Do I need to create an account?

No, and press coverage saying otherwise is wrong. The portal opens straight into the form. There is no route for editing a submission after you file it. What the confirmation email carries is a Travel Code, and the departure card asks for it to link your departure to your arrival record — so an email typo leaves you with no receipt and no way to fix it.

What has to be declared on the customs part?

The customs step asks two separate currency questions: whether you are carrying more than US$5,000 or its equivalent, and whether you are carrying more than TT$20,000. TT$20,000 is roughly US$2,950, so the local threshold is the lower of the two. That half of the form is a customs matter rather than a formality, so a wrong answer there is not a simple typo.

Is the government form free?

Yes — the government charges nothing for the arrival or departure card. What you pay iVisa is a service fee for preparing both submissions for everyone in your party, in your language, filed the moment each window opens.

Why travelers choose iVisa

On your own

  • A second, separate submission with its own QR code — and no reminder from the government that it exists.
  • The portal refuses your details until 72 hours before travel, so it cannot be handled while you plan.
  • .jpg, .jpeg and .png only. The HEIC photos iPhones take and PDF scans are both rejected with a bare "Invalid file type".
  • No FAQ page, no contact page, no live chat — the portal's own /faq and /contact addresses return errors, and no helpline is referenced anywhere on it.
  • Eight interface languages, but the government states all data must be entered in English only — the translation stops at the instructions.
  • We track both legs of your trip and prepare the departure card too.
  • We hold your details securely and file the moment each window opens.
  • Our passport scan takes the photo your phone actually produces and converts it for you.
  • 24/7 support from people who file these forms every day.
  • You answer in your language; we enter the data in the form the government requires.
