Trinidad and Tobago visa requirements for US citizens
US citizens do not currently need a visa to visit Trinidad and Tobago as tourists for stays of up to 90 days. Upon arrival, an immigration officer will evaluate your entry and stamp your passport with your permitted length of stay. Additionally, as of March 17, 2026, all travelers must submit the Trinidad and Tobago Online Arrival/Departure Card within 72 hours before travel. This mandatory digital form produces the QR-code receipt you present to immigration and customs officers, and it officially replaced all paper customs and immigration cards. It is not a visa and grants no entry and no length of stay. US travelers will need one Trinidad and Tobago travel document:
Trinidad and Tobago Online Arrival Card: A mandatory digital immigration form for all travelers entering and leaving the country. It must be submitted within 72 hours before arrival and within 72 hours before departure (each entry or exit requires a new submission). It generates a receipt with a QR code that you must present to immigration officials at the border.

Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do US citizens need a visa for Trinidad and Tobago?
No. US citizens visit for tourism or business without a visa, and the immigration officer decides how long you may stay when you arrive. What every traveller must do is file the Online Arrival/Departure Card — a free immigration and customs form, not a visa.
How many forms do I need for a round trip from the US?
Two. The arrival card and the departure card are separate submissions with separate QR-code receipts, and the government does not remind you about the second one. Forgetting the departure form is the most common mistake with the new system.
When can I submit the form?
72 hours before each leg, and no earlier — the portal refuses details outside that window. Applying through iVisa means your details are ready and filed the moment it opens for both your outbound and return flights.
Do US citizens pay anything to enter Trinidad and Tobago?
The government charges nothing for the arrival or departure card. What you pay iVisa is a service fee for preparing both submissions for everyone in your party, checked before they are filed.
Do my children need their own arrival card?
No. Children under 18 travelling with you, and a spouse, go on your submission, up to 10 of them alongside you, so 11 travellers in all. A larger party has to be split across more than one submission.
Why did the portal reject my passport photo?
It accepts .jpg, .jpeg and .png only. iPhones save photos as HEIC by default and phone scan apps produce PDFs — both are rejected with a bare "Invalid file type" message that does not explain the problem.
What do I have to declare to customs?
The customs half of the form asks two separate currency questions: whether you are carrying more than US$5,000 or its equivalent, and whether you are carrying more than TT$20,000. TT$20,000 is roughly US$2,950, so the local threshold is the lower of the two and catches amounts the dollar figure does not. That is a customs matter rather than a formality, so an incorrect answer there is not treated as a simple mistake.
