In this article, we’ll provide clear and concise information on the vaccination measures in place, offering insights into the types of vaccinations accepted, any other specific documentation needed including the Antigua and Barbuda eVisa, and what certificates you should have on hand.

By being well-informed about these requirements, you can be more prepared for your trip while contributing to the overall well-being of everyone around you.

What vaccine do I need to enter Antigua and Barbuda?

All travelers should be up-to-date with routine vaccination courses and boosters. These routine vaccinations include measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTaP), and varicella (chickenpox), among others.

Here are other vaccine requirements to enter Antigua and Barbuda:

We recommend you be up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines, although they’re not mandatory anymore.

Hepatitis A

This is recommended for unvaccinated travelers one-year-old or older traveling to Antigua and Barbuda.

Infants 6 to 11 months old should also be vaccinated against Hepatitis A. Please be aware that the dose doesn’t count toward the routine 2-dose series.

Travelers with allergies to a vaccine component or those under 6 months old should receive a sole dose of immune globulin. This offers effective protection for a duration of up to 2 months, depending on the administered dosage.

Unvaccinated travelers aged 40 and above, people with compromised immune systems, or those with chronic medical conditions intending to travel to a high-risk area within the next 2 weeks should obtain the first dose of the vaccine.

Simultaneously, during the same appointment, these travelers should also receive immune globulin for additional protection.

Hepatitis B

Recommended for unvaccinated travelers of all ages visiting Antigua and Barbuda.

Infants aged 6 to 11 months should receive a single dose of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine before their journey. This dose is considered separate from the regular childhood vaccination series and is specifically recommended for travel purposes.

While Antigua and Barbuda are free of dog rabies, there remains a potential risk of rabies in wildlife, particularly bats. The CDC advises rabies vaccination before travel, especially for people directly involved with wildlife. This category includes professionals such as veterinarians, animal handlers, field biologists, or laboratory workers dealing with specimens from mammalian species.

Recommended for most travelers, especially those staying with friends or relatives or visiting rural areas.

Yellow Fever

Mandatory for travelers 1 year and older arriving from countries where there’s a risk of Yellow Fever (YF) virus transmission. This requirement also applies to those with airport transits or layovers exceeding 12 hours in countries with a risk of YF virus transmission.
