As the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship approaches, you may want to start planning your trip if you wish to participate in the events. As you may know, there are 12 hosting cities, and one of them is Copenhagen, Denmark. There are going to be 4 matches in Copenhagen, on the 13th, the 18th, the 22nd, and the 29th of June. However, if you want to attend either or all of them, know that you have to check whether you need a visa before traveling to Denmark.

Denmark

First of all, if you are a citizen of a European Union country, you do not need any type of travel document to go to Denmark. You can travel freely within the EU, holding only a national ID Card.

Secondly, the citizens of 62 countries and territories can travel to Denmark without having to obtain a visa in advance. However, there is one requirement that visa-exempt nationalities must meet, and that is to have a valid passport. Also, the passport has to remain valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival. If you find yourself among the visa-exempt nationalities, you are allowed to stay in Denmark for no more than 90 days. But that is more than enough since all UEFA 2020 events last only a month.

iVisa can help you find out whether or not you need a visa if you want to attend the UEFA Euro 2020 events in Copenhagen, Denmark. Feel free to use iVisa's Visa Checker Tool, which you can easily find on the homepage. Just insert your nationality in the box on the left, and then choose Denmark from the drag-down menu on the right. The result will tell you precisely what you need to know.

Nevertheless, if you do use iVisa's Visa Checker Tool and you find out that you need a visa to attend the UEFA Euro 2020 events in Copenhagen, Denmark, what you need to apply for is a Schengen visa because Denmark is a member of the Schengen Area. Consequently, you are required to go to the Danish embassy. There is some good news, however. You can start the visa application process online.

If you decide to use an online visa service, you can fill in an application form and make the payment online. You will receive a cover letter, which will be necessary when you go to the embassy for your interview. Other requirements must be met as well. You will need a valid passport that remains valid for 6 months from the date of arrival, proof of sufficient funds, which in Denmark is at least 350 DKK per day (about 45 Euros), an airline confirmation, and accommodation details.

The visa application is usually processed in 15 business days, and once it is issued, you can travel to Denmark for a period that cannot exceed 90 days.

One thing you have to remember is that a Schengen visa issued by the Danish embassy grants you entry into all Schengen countries. So, if you are planning to attend more UEFA Euro 2020 events in the Schengen Area, this visa allows you to do that without having to apply for another visa.

As you can see, if you do need a visa to attend the UEFA Euro 2020 events that take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, getting one is not too complicated. The fact that you can start the visa application process online is incredibly helpful, and since the games start less than 6 months from now, you are free to apply.
