Visa Policy for Germany

The Germany Visa Policy is a set of restrictions and regulations that examines who can travel to Germany without a visa or who can travel to the country with a visa. As Germany is part of the Schengen zone, the Germany Visa Policy is similar to the visa policies of other Schengen countries.

Fill me in

Hence, the citizens of all Schengen countries are allowed to visit Germany without any prior travel authorization or a visa for an unlimited period or any purpose. They just need to present a valid passport or National ID to prove their nationality to enter the country.

As per the Germany Visa Policy, there are other sixty-two visa-exempt countries whose citizens are allowed to visit Germany without a visa for short trips for tourism purposes. They just have to present a valid passport at the immigration checkpoint in Germany. However, the citizens of these countries will need to apply for an ETIAS by 2022 to visit Germany and other Schengen countries.

According to the Germany Visa Policy, passport holders of about one hundred and fifty countries need to apply for a Schengen Visa regardless of the purpose of the visit or the stay duration.

You can check the following sections to learn more about the Germany Visa Policy, different visa types, visa requirements, and the validity of different visa types.

Tourist Visa Policy for Germany

The Germany Visa Policy states that selective nationalities are allowed to visit the country without a visa for tourism purposes. This category includes the citizens of the Schengen zone who can visit Germany for an unlimited time and the citizens of other visa-free countries can enter Germany and stay in the country for a maximum duration of 90 Days.

By 2022, the citizens of visa-exempt countries other than Schengen countries need to apply for an ETIAS to visit Germany. The ETIAS is valid for 3 years and allows the visitors to enter and leave the country multiple times during the validity of the document.

There are around one hundred and fifty countries that have to apply for a Schengen Visa to enter and stay in the country for various purposes regardless of the duration of stay. To obtain a Schengen visa, the applicants need to visit the nearest Embassy of Germany with the completed application form and supporting documents.

The most important document to obtain an Embassy Visa is a valid passport with a minimum of six months of validity and at least two blank pages.

You can get more information about the different visa categories in the sections given below. Learn More

Germany ETIAS

As per the Germany Visa Policy, Germany agrees to the implementation of the ETIAS visa waiver program that is being operational by 2022. This program has been introduced by the European Union to improve border security and keep a check on every traveler visiting the Schengen zone from any of the visa-exempt countries.

There are around sixty-two visa-free countries that must have to apply for an ETIAS before visiting Germany by 2022. This type of travel authorization document is a multiple-entry travel document that allows the citizens to visit Germany as many times as they want within the validity of the document.

With the utilization of an ETIAS, passport holders can visit Germany for business, transit, medical, or tourism purposes. This travel document is valid for 3 years or until the passport of the applicant is valid. With this document, the citizens can stay in the country for a maximum duration of 90 Days within a period of 180 Days.

To apply for this document, the applicants should apply online by filling out a simple application form that asks for a few security and health questions.
