The third smallest country in South America, Guyana's name translates as the ‘land of many waters' - and it's easy to see why. The nation is covered in rivers leading to the Atlantic Ocean in the northeast. Guyana is enchantingly beautiful, offering mountains, hills, and beaches. Many tourists choose to visit Guyana simply because of the wildlife and landscape. The mountains are picturesque, the coastline is gorgeous, and you can spot jaguars! Other animals you may encounter include: giant otter, the harpy eagle, the black caiman, the giant anteater, and the green anaconda. You're sure to have an exciting time in Guyana.

But before you start packing your bags, you need find out if you require a visa before departure. Luckily, Guyana’s visa policy includes a list of many visa-exempt countries, so if your nation is on the list, you can travel visa-free and stay for up to 90 days. Visas on arrival are also available, but they are conditional: if you want a visa on arrival, you likely require a letter of invitation from a host or an organization in Guyana, since only the citizens of Bolivia and the United Arab Emirates do not require such a document.

To find out where your nationality needs to travel, you could read Guyana’s visa policy, but we recommend using our Visa Checker Tool located in the top right corner of this page. Just select your country of origin from the drag-down menu and choose Guyana as your destination. If you don't need a visa, Bon Voyage! If you do, we provide you with a list of embassies you can use to apply in-person.

Unfortunately, iVisa does not process Guyana visa applications because the country does not yet issue electronic visas. However, we still like helping all travelers, which is why we offer a free 24/7 support service to answer any questions you may have about the visa process.

If you cannot obtain a letter of invitation and you need to apply for a visa at the Guyana embassy, you need to learn about the specific requirements. While they are sometimes provided online, we recommend that you contact the issuing authority (embassy or diplomatic mission) itself since it will be the most reliable source of information. Websites are not always up-to-date, leading potentially to critical mistakes. Nevertheless, what iVisa can tell you is that you need a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival in Guyana. For further information, contact the nearest diplomatic mission of Guyana.

We regretfully are unable to process requests for Guyana visas at the moment, but as soon as that changes, we will be able to help you with a hassle-free visa application process. Until then, we hope that the above information is helpful.
