I'm a Russian citizen, do I need to have a visa to travel to Myanmar?

If you're a Russian passport holder, you must apply for a visa to join Myanmar, yet as we commented previously, you can apply for a Myanmar eVisa online.

What is an eVisa?

The eVisa is a special travel requirement that foreign citizens need if they want to enter Myanmar. It can be used for tourism or business purposes.

How many types of Myanmar eVisas are there?

There are only two:

  • Tourist eVisa
  • Business eVisa

How long can I stay in Myanmar with the tourist eVisa?

With your Russian passport, you apt to stay inside Myanmar for 28 days in Total.

What are the requirements?

Russian citizens don’t have to deal with any of the bureaucracy as iVisa will handle it for them. Simply do your part by uploading your requirements so your application will be processed. Most requirements can be easily obtained. Most probably, you may already have everything you need. Below is the list of what you need to supply:

  • Valid passport – acquiring a passport should be easy. In case you have one, just make sure that it is still valid if you already have one. Avoid wasting time and money by making sure that your passport is not yet expired as this will lead to a denied application.

  • Digital photo – it should be the most recent photo. Make sure that it meets the criteria (white background, no face gestures, etc.)

  • Email address – while the visa will be electronically linked to your passport, you still should get a copy to show at the immigration office in Myanmar. iVisa will send your evisa via e-mail in PDF format. Print at least one copy of the eVisa, before the departure date.

  • Payment methods –you will be asked to make the payment for both the visa and service fee for iVisa. You can either pay using a credit or debit card. You can use PayPal if you have an account.

What is the validity of the tourist eVisa?

You can use this eVisa for 90 days after issued with your Russian passport.

What are the processing times and costs for it?

The amount of your Myanmar tourist eVisa depends on the processing time and the cost of the eVisa is the same for all options; the only price it differs is the service fee. As for your processing options, they are as follows:

  • Standard processing (USD $133.99) - 7 days.

  • Rush processing (USD $203.99) - 5 days.

  • Super Rush processing (USD $288.99) - 4 days.

Does it take a long time to send my application form?

You shouldn't spend more than 20 minutes to complete the online form for your eVisa.

How can I apply?

It is an easy process to acquire a Myanmar eVisa. In fact, you can complete the online form within 20 minutes since it only consists of three steps.

  1. You have to fill in your general information in the first stage. Once done putting in your details, select the processing time in which your visa cost is determined.

  2. In second step, you should review the details and maybe, do a revision. After that, you can pay by following the on-screen instructions. It is highly recommended that Russian citizens carefully input all details. Revisions are no longer allowed once your application was processed.

  3. You might answer personal questions and upload photos upload in the last step. Additional documents might be needed so there will be different requirements for Russian citizens. Once you’ve completed all, click on the submit button then sit back and wait for your visa.

How many times can I enter Myanmar?

If you have your eVisa available, it means you have a Single Entry.

If I travel with my kids, do they need a Myanmar eVisa too?

This will vary according to their age. If they're older than 7 years, then yes, they have to apply separately. But if your children are under 7, they can apply with you. They won't need to pay any additional fee, just USD 50.00 which is the cost of the eVisa.

Can I apply without any hotel reservation?

Yes, totally. You don't need to have any reservation to apply online. Still, don't forget that you must stay in authorized hotels, motels, inns or guest houses.

How do I know if my Myanmar eVisa is ready?

You'll receive the information of the whole process through an email, so be sure to give us the proper email address. We will inform send you the eVisa once the Government approves your request.

Can I enter anywhere in Myanmar?

No, you can't. Russian citizens possessing this document will have the availability to enter Myanmar on specific places, including Yangon International Airport, Naypyidaw Airport, and Mandalay International Airport if you travel by air. In case you decide to enter by land, you can do it using these land border points: Tachileik, Myawaddy, and Kaethaung.
