The US is on New Zealand’s list of 60 visa waiver countries. As a result, you are not required to go to the nearest embassy to apply for your visa before departure. There is a catch, however. What is an ETA?

The New Zealand Tourist eTa (NZ Electronic Travel Authority) is an electronic visa waiver that grants the right to enter multiple times to New Zealand. There is no need to make an appointment or present original documents to the Embassy or Consular Office.

How long can visitors with a US passport stay in New Zealand with an ETA?

The New Zealand ETA for US citizens allows a maximum stay of 90 days Per Entry and with your ETA you will have Multiple Entry to the country.

What are the documents required to apply?

  • A current passport that is valid for at least six months upon arrival

How long is the ETA valid?

How does the ETA work?

The New Zealand ETA is issued electronically by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the New Zealand government.
