The citizens of Uganda have the possibility to apply online for a New Zealand ETA because as a Ugandan, you qualify for a forthcoming eVisa if you travel to New Zealand.

However, this is an option that will be available in the future, you still need to go to an Embassy to receive your visa if you want to travel to New Zealand.

If I'm from Uganda, do I need to apply for a visa if I want to travel to New Zealand?

If you're from Uganda, then yes, you need to apply for a visa to travel to New Zealand. Remember that you can only get a Consular Tourist Visa by now.

What are the documents required?

One of the first things you need to do before you access the application page is to ensure that you have everything that is required for a successful application process. However, you should have an easy time putting it all together. Here is what you need:

  • Passport – all applicants who need a New Zealand ETA must get a passport that preserves its validity for at least another 3 months from the intended date of departure from New Zealand.

  • Digital passport photo – make sure that the photograph follows all the guidelines. For example, it needs to be a recent picture.

  • Evidence of your plans in New Zealand – you have to compile a document that declares some of your activities in New Zealand.

  • Proof of accommodation in New Zealand – a hotel booking confirmation will work. So it will another kind of booking (Airbnb, for instance), or even a letter from a friend who is hosting you during your trip.

  • Financial ties and commitments in your home country – it can be property ownership, your current job, family, etc.

  • List of all your periods of employment.

  • Means of payment – iVisa accepts more than one method of payment. You can use a credit or debit card, but you can also pay with PayPal.

  • E-mail address – This document is sent to you via e-mail, even if it is electronically linked to your passport. We recommend you to print out the document before departure.

What are the prices and processing times?

You can opt for one of the following processing times according to how soon you want your ETA:

  • Standard processing – With this option, you'll obtain your New Zealand ETA in only 2 days and you will have to pay USD $89.99.

  • Rush processing – With this option you'll get it faster, in 6 hours being precise, but you will have to pay USD $135.99.

  • Super Rush processing – as you can imagine, the fastest option is also the most expensive of all. Your application will be ready in 2 hours and you will have to pay USD $190.99.

How can I apply for the New Zealand ETA?

After you verify that you have all of the above, you are ready to fill in the application form. The online form created by iVisa is short and it should take you about 20 minutes to complete, but if you need assistance, you can contact iVisa’s customer support 24/7.

What you will see once you enter the application page is that the form is split into three steps. That should make the application process easier for you.

  1. The first step requires you to enter your personal information, but you also need to choose a processing time for your application. iVisa offers you three choices so that you can go for the one that suits you best.

  2. The second step asks you to cover the payment and review your online form so that there are no mistakes in it.

  3. The third step will ask you to provide other documents that support your application. After you are finished, click on the submit button, and iVisa will process your application in the timeframe you selected.
