Embarking on a journey to Ghana, the heart of West Africa, is an exciting adventure waiting to unfold. From the bustling streets of Accra to the serene shores of Lake Volta, Ghana offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and breathtaking landscapes.

As you prepare for your Ghanaian escapade, one crucial step is ensuring your Ghanese visa application is complete with the right photo specifications. At iVisa, we're here to simplify this process for you, transforming what might seem like a daunting task into a breeze.

The essentials: Ghana Visa photo requirements

  • Size: Your photo should be 2 inches by 2 inches (ca. 5 cm), the standard passport photo size.
  • Color: Only color photos are accepted, capturing your natural skin tone in good lighting.
  • Recent: The photo must be recent, ideally taken within the last six months, to reflect your current appearance.
  • Background: Opt for a white or off-white background, free from patterns or shadows, to ensure clarity and contrast.
  • Face: Your full face must be visible, facing the camera directly with both eyes open. This ensures your features are clearly identifiable.
  • Expression and attire: A neutral expression is best, with natural, everyday clothing. Uniforms or costumes that obscure your regular appearance are not permitted.
  • Glasses and headgear: If you wear glasses, ensure there’s no glare on the lenses. Sunglasses or tinted lenses are not allowed. Religious headgear is acceptable, but it must not cover your face.

Simplifying Ghana Visa photo requirements for kids: A parent's guide

When it comes to visa applications, children's photos adhere to largely the same standards as adults, but with a bit of extra flexibility to accommodate the unpredictable nature of little ones. Here’s what you need to keep in mind:

  • Sizing: For young ones, the head measurement adjusts slightly to accommodate their proportions.
  • Positioning: Ensure their eyes are open, facing forward, and that no external objects such as toys or dummies are in the frame.
  • Photo taking: If you're holding the baby, make sure your hands are not visible in the photo. It's also possible to use a white sheet in a car seat, taking the photo from above.
