This option is available to people of countries like Russia, India, Kuwait, etc.

The second type is a VOA which stands for Visa ON Arrival. The option is available for nationalists from countries like Kenya, Gabon, Nepal, Mozambique, etc.

The third type is the consular visa or embassy visa. People from over 25 countries like China, Bhutan, Ghana, etc need to have a visa obtained from the Embassy of Portugal present in their country before visiting the country.

There is one type of travel document that will come into existence from 2022 onwards. This new travel document will be known as an ETIAS. ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System. This will be an electronic visa waiver which will be compulsory for all the current visa-exempt countries for Portugal. All the people from outside the Schengen Area need to have this. The ETIAS will help in strengthening the borders of the Schengen country. The ETIAS will be linked to the holder’s passport. However, ETIAS is not a visa

An approved ETIAS for Portugal will grant the holder the opportunity of multiple entries in the country and allows the person to live in Portugal for 90 days for any purpose of theirs that is tourism, business, medical treatment, or transit travel. The ETIAS will be valid for 3 years from the date of its issue.

Portugal eVisa

They have to pay a fee online in real-time and need to provide a valid email ID as their visa will be sent to them via email. Travelers who obtain their eVisa can live in the country for 90 days.

Portugal Visa On Arrival

The citizens of the permitted countries can acquire a visa on their arrival in Portugal according to the Portugal Visa Policy. They might be asked for several documents to be shown so that they can acquire their VOA.

A traveler with a VOA can stay for up to 90 days in the country, if they fail to show the documents asked for their visa, their entry will simply be denied.

Portugal Consular Visa

Travelers from several countries need to have a visa with them before they arrive in Portugal. This is known as a consular visa. They need to acquire it from the Embassy of Portugal or Portugal's diplomatic mission in their country.

To obtain a consular visa an individual has to make an appointment with the embassy and needs to go there to fill up a form. They need to provide all the required documents that will be asked for. After the submission of the form, the person will receive their visa and with that, they can enter the country of Portugal.
