Planning a trip to the United Kingdom from Qatar? There's an important travel requirement you should know about, the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). The UK ETA serves as an official permission for visa-exempt travelers the opportunity to visit the UK.

This electronic travel authorization is a part of the efforts to strengthen the UK border control and maintain proper records of incoming visitors. When you make your way to the United Kingdom, all you'll need to do is scan the same passport you used when applying for the ETA, as it’s digitally linked.

Only British and Irish nationals will still be able to come to the UK without travel permits or visas. The ETA will become mandatory for citizens of Qatar on 15 November 2023. Until then, you can enter the UK using the current Electronic Visa Waiver.

UK ETA approval and denial for Qatari citizens

  • Approved UK ETA: Get ready to visit the United Kingdom! Upon arrival, present your passport to the immigration officer, who will verify that your ETA is electronically linked to it.

  • Denied UK ETA: This means that the UK government has found a problem or inconsistency with your application. Based on the reasons for rejection, review the information and eligibility criteria and reapply for the ETA.
