Hong Kong passport holders do not need a visa for short visits to Canada. Instead, they must apply for a Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before flying to Canada.
Canada does not issue visas on arrival. As a Hong Kong passport holder, you must obtain an approved Canadian eTA before boarding your flight to Canada.
The exact length of stay is determined by Canada border officers on arrival and may be shorter depending on your travel purpose and supporting documents.
an eTA does not allow you to work in Canada. If you plan to work, you must apply for the appropriate work permit of visa before traveling.
This can be demonstrated with a return or onward ticket, of proof that you have sufficient funds to purchase one.
The Canadian eTA can be used for tourism, short business visits (such as meetings of conferences), and transit. Paid work is not allowed under an eTA.
Travelers are advised to be up to date with routine vaccinations before traveling.
Travelers may be asked to submit a Canada Advance CBSA Declaration (ArriveCAN) before arrival to speed up airport processing. This is completed online before travel.
