- Who it's for
- Anyone flying into one of the ten participating Canadian airports, whatever their citizenship. Visitors, permit holders, returning citizens, and permanent residents all file the same declaration, and it works only with a passport or a Canadian permanent resident card.
- What it is and isn't
- This is a customs, immigration, and agriculture declaration you submit before you fly, so you can use the express kiosk and eGate lanes on arrival. It is not a visa and gives no permission to travel.
- How you travel
- Air arrivals only, and only where a participating airport is your first point of arrival in Canada. Land, rail, ferry, and private-boat crossings are excluded, as are passengers who never clear the border agency.
- Delivery format
- There is no document, stamp, or sticker. The declaration is held in your ArriveCAN account and confirmed by a receipt from the kiosk or eGate when you arrive.
- Good to know
- Every traveler needs their own declaration, but a parent or guardian can create and submit profiles for the whole party from one sign-in. A solo traveler must be at least 14 to use an eGate, and a kiosk takes up to five people at a time.

Do I need a Canada Advance CBSA Declaration even if I have an eTA or Visa?
Yes. The Advance CBSA Declaration is a mandatory customs requirement for every person entering Canada, regardless of their visa status or nationality. It replaces the paper declaration cards formerly used on airplanes.
How will I receive the Canada Advance CBSA Declaration?
You will receive a confirmation via email with a reference number. This is electronically linked to your passport. When you arrive at the airport, you will scan your passport at a primary inspection kiosk or eGate, and your declaration will be retrieved.
