The change came when Thailand revoked its 60-day exemption, and the 30-day exemption is for tourism. For a longer stay or another purpose, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm takes applications online through Thailand's e-Visa system. Every traveler also files the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) for each entry, in the 3 days before arrival.

Do Swedish citizens need a visa for Thailand?
Not for tourism stays of up to 30 days. Sweden's embassy in Bangkok says Swedish citizens who haven't applied for a visa can stay 30 days without one from 15 September 2026. People who entered before that date keep the stay stamped in their passport. Every traveler also files the TDAC in the 3 days before arrival.
Do I have to visit the Thai embassy in Stockholm to get a Thai visa?
No. The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, which serves Sweden and Latvia, takes visa applications online through Thailand's e-Visa system. You no longer hand in your passport and original documents in person. Foreign nationals living in Sweden apply the same way.
How do I enter Å, Ä and Ö on the Thai e-Visa form?
Type them as AA, AE and OE, as the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm instructs. The embassy also advises applying at least 6 to 8 weeks before departure, but not earlier than 90 days before.
I hold a Swedish främlingspass: can I use the visa exemption?
No. Quoting Thailand's foreign ministry, the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha says the exemptions exclude travel documents for aliens issued by the listed countries. Apply for a visa instead. The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm says främlingspass holders may have to submit other documents with their application.
