Frequently asked questions about the Zimbabwe eVisa

Nationalities are divided into three categories.

  • Category A (mostly SADC countries) is visa-exempt.

  • Category B (including US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia) can obtain a visa on arrival or apply for an eVisa.

  • Category C must obtain an eVisa before departure.

We recommend Category B travelers apply for an eVisa in advance to avoid long queues at the border.

The KAZA UniVisa is a special joint visa that allows you to visit both Zimbabwe and Zambia multiple times within a 30-day period.

It is also valid for day trips into Botswana via the Kazungula border. It is available online and at major airports like Harare and Victoria Falls.

You will receive a Letter of Authority as a PDF via email. Unlike some other eVisas, you must print a physical copy of this letter. Digital copies on phones are often rejected by immigration officers. If you applied through iVisa, you’ll also find a copy of your PDF in your dashboard.

If you remain in the airport transit area, you do not need a visa.

If you are transiting overland (e.g., driving from South Africa to Zambia) or if your layover is long and you wish to stay at a hotel outside the airport, you must obtain a Transit eVisa.

Standard tourist eVisas are usually issued for a stay of up to 30 days. While the initial entry is often capped at 30 days, visitors can generally stay for a total of 90 days within a 6-month period if they apply for extensions locally.

Yes. If you wish to stay longer than your initial 30 days, you must visit the Department of Immigration in person (offices are located in major cities like Harare or Bulawayo) to apply for an extension before your current stay expires.

The Zimbabwean government typically processes applications within 3 to 7 working days. iVisa offers various processing speeds (Standard, Rush, and Super Rush) and we can get you the eVisa in as little as 3 days.

Yes. Every traveler, regardless of age, must have their own approved visa. For minors, you may be required to provide a birth certificate and a letter of consent if they are traveling with only one parent or a legal guardian.

You can use iVisa’s "Add another person" feature to manage the entire family's applications in one go.

The most common reasons for rejection are blurry passport scans or incorrect personal information that doesn't match the passport. If your application is rejected, iVisa can help you identify the specific issue and assist with a re-application.
