Bermuda is a British territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean. Its name is commonly referred to in the singular, but this territory has 181 islands surrounded by beautiful turquoise waters of the Sargasso Sea. It’s also an internally self-governing destination with its cabinet of ministers. Contrary to the common belief, Bermuda is NOT part of the Caribbean, and it’s very close to the East Coast of the United States. This destination often gets mistaken for a Caribbean island due to the quality of its beaches. Its white sands and crystal clear waters are truly captivating. Just remember that since this place is located in the Atlantic, it can be quite cold during winter, and that means that the waters can be freezing. When you arrive at Bermuda, you’ll be able to see a lot of men dressed in prim business shirts and casual short trousers milling about Hamilton, the capital city. Remember, that this is the place where “Bermuda shorts” became a trend, especially for tourists. That’s why you can easily recognize a lot of British influence in the elegance of some spots, but at the same time, you can enjoy the chill vibe of a subtropical island. This territory is usually visited for its fame about “luxury vacation”. Many travelers search for top activities like high-quality spa treatments and even afternoon tea times. If you’re looking for an amazing escape from a city lifestyle, this is the right place for you. You can not only relax with amazing self-care treatments but also enjoy golf clubs or walk through Horseshoe Bay Beach. History is also an important aspect of Bermuda’s culture. There’s always a guided tour held daily of the old-time buildings in Historic St. George or the National Museum of Bermuda. Since this territory has a blend of British, American, and West Indian culture, it’s not surprising to learn that it was able to create its own customs. Its architecture is an example of this blend, showing a stylized colonial style with more native decorations and references. You can enjoy afternoon tea while you're in Bermuda. You don’t have to be kitted out in an extremely demure fashion when enjoying this treat, but you do have to take note of some details. Among those, consider wearing your Bermuda shorts with a good shirt or jacket. Avoid just walking dropping in wearing flip flops and a bathing suit if you don’t want to be frowned upon. Bermuda has amazing pink sand beaches which can be very picturesque. During sunsets, these places stand out a lot, and that's why you must plan the best day to visit them at the right time to avoid overcrowding. You should also remember that this place is expensive, especially when you want to stay the night in a fancy hotel. There are other less pricey options in town, like local motels, and you can even rent an Airbnb. Also, the best way to get around this destination is by bus. You can’t rent a car here and motorbikes can be dangerous for learners. Another option can be Twizys. If you’re thinking about taxis, think twice because taxis here aren’t budget-friendly. The food of this nation is quite delicious. Its fusion cuisine has a mix of exotic flavors in vegetables and fruits but also amazing preparations with fish and rice. You have to be careful with the spicy food and also where to eat so always take a look at the restaurant or the spot you’re going to. Don’t forget that medical cost in Bermuda is the second-highest in the world, so always be cautious with your health and don’t risk it. Many travelers get travel medical insurance before going to the place, and with the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to take into consideration some other safety tips. First of all, you cannot forget to get a Bermuda Traveler Authorization before arriving at the airport. This document is a guarantee that you’re not risking your health while staying there and that you’re not risking other traveler’s safety either. The COVID-19 epidemic has largely affected older people, but that doesn’t mean that young travelers shouldn’t be worried about it. This virus is supposedly very contagious, that’s why certain requirements like the Bermuda Traveler Authorization are so important. If you’ve visited countries where it is already endemic, you might consider telling your doctor and accepting extra regulations if necessary. Some of the characteristic symptoms about the COVID-19 are fever, chills, cough, and respiratory distress. Some people might experience nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and a runny nose. It is still crucial that you remain very careful with regards to your health, and once you feel any of the symptoms mentioned before, especially fever, contact your doctor or any emergency number to get help as soon as possible. Other symptoms associated with the cough and fever outbreak include headaches, earaches, and watery eyes. Some people even lost their sense of smell and taste for a few days, although this is not as common as the fever and cough. At the moment, there haven’t been many cases related to the COVID-19 in Bermuda since this territory is quite small in comparison to other nations, but that’s the main reason to get the Bermuda Traveler Authorization and avoid upcoming issues. Keep in mind that this is to help you and also help other travelers and locals. Also, remember that this document is required at the port of entry and it’s followed by important inspections of the health status of each passenger. Keep yourself informed about upcoming details concerning the COVID-19 so you can stay safe and enjoy your visit to Bermuda.
