According to Canada’s visa policy, the citizens of 54 countries are exempt from getting a visa when they plan to visit Canada. However, all of them, except for the nationals of the US, must obtain a Canada ETA before departure. The citizens of Hong Kong are among those people. Luckily, you can apply online for an ETA, and iVisa can help with the application process.
What are the requirements?
To be able to apply for a Canada ETA, you need to ensure that you can meet all the requirements. Nevertheless, the list is short, and the requirements are easy to achieve. iVisa does not ask for much from your part. Here is what you must provide so that iVisa can get the process started:
Valid passport – all applicants who wish to obtain an ETA must hold a valid passport that remains as such for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Canada. Also, keep in mind that an expired passport also means an expired ETA, and a new passport implies a new ETA as well.
An e-mail address – since the application process is entirely online, you will receive the ETA via e-mail. That is why you need an address to which you have access.
Means of payment – for the same reason as above, you need to have an online means of payment. iVisa accepts multiple methods. You can use a credit or a debit card, but PayPal, Alipay, and WeChat are accepted as well.
Canada ETA for the citizens of Hong Kong – processing time and fees
It is recommended that you apply for your Canada ETA before you book your flight. However, iVisa provides three excellent processing time options so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs. Each option comes with its own fee, and as you can imagine, the sooner you want your Canada ETA, the more you must pay for it. Your options are as follows:
Standard processing – if the circumstances allow it, you can go for the slowest and cheapest option. By choosing the Standard option, you agree to have your application processed within 1 business day. The cost of this option is $19.50.
Rush processing – if time is of the issue, you can choose this option and have your Canada ETA in your e-mail inbox in just 2 hours. However, you will be charged $49.50.
Super Rush processing – emergency situation call for the fastest processing time available. Your application is processed within 30 minutes, but the cost goes higher as well. The fee for this option is $69.50.
The application form
One last thing you are required to do is to fill in the application form. That is an easy process as well since it takes about 20 minutes for anyone to complete it. Plus, iVisa provides customer support. The service is available non-stop, and it is free of charge.
The form has three steps. The first one asks for your personal information, passport info, and travel details. This is also the moment in which you must choose a processing time for your application. Step two consists of payment and revision. The latter is more important than you think because corrections are impossible to make once your application reaches the processing phase. An error can invalidate your visa. And the last step is when iVisa asks you to upload the required documents. Once all three steps are complete, just submit your application and you are done. iVisa handles the rest.
Needless to say, a Canada ETA for the citizens of Hong Kong is easy to obtain. Your effort is minimal. The ETA is valid for 5 years since issue or until your passport expires (whichever happens sooner), and it grants you multiple entries. You can stay in Canada for up to 180 days per entry.
