Frequently Asked Questions
I'm a Portuguese, this means I require a visa?
Yes, Portugal is one of the countries that belong to the EU, so if you have this nationality, please acquire a visa before traveling to Egypt.
What is an electronic visa for Portuguese?
A few years ago, the Egyptian Government decided to establish an easier method of access to the country for the nationals of some countries. This was done in order to increase tourist visits to their country and to allow them to learn more about its culture. The electronic visa that Egypt offers is processed and obtained online, without the need to follow a traditional procedure with the Embassy or Consulate.
How many days can I stay in the country with this eVisa?
30 days is the total number of days you can stay in Egypt with your eVisa.
What are the requirements?
The application process is pretty straightforward, and you only need to meet a few requirements. You must provide this so that we can expedite your visa:
- A 6-month valid passport - Upload also the passport scan.
- Means of payment
- A valid email address
What's the lifespan of this eVisa?
This Electronic Visa has an expire date of 90 days after issued, after that, you're no longer able to stay in Egypt.

As you can guess by the name, a Single Entry visa will allow you to enter the country just once, while the Multiple Entry permits you to enter multiple times. Also remember that the maximum amount of days your visa is valid is 90 days after issued.
This means that for example, in the case of multiple-entry visas, you can enter Egypt and leave after 15 days, come back and stay for another 20 days, etc...as long as each stay doesn't exceed 30 days Per Entry, and all entries occur within 90 days.

If I only transit through Egypt, do I also need a visa?
In that case you don't need to get a visa if the stop takes less than 2 days and you're able to prove that with your ticket.
Bear in mind that sometimes the passenger must leave the airport, so always keep your passport handy. The same airlines also offer short tours (6-48 hours), so check before taking one of these tours.
If the total transit time is below 6 hours, then you will have to exit the transit area, but not the airport.
This does not apply to Iranian citizens who will always require a transit visa. Those from *Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine, and the Philippines, on the other hand, must always remain within the transit area.
Should I take a copy of my eVisa to the airport?
You should know that to enter Egypt, you have to show to the Immigration Officers a printed version of your eVisa. Print it out on a white letter-size sheet.
Double-sided or shortened prints will be rejected.
Do my minors kids also have to apply for a visa?
They must obtain an eVisa too, but they can apply along with their parents' form.
