Known for its bright colors and strict culture, Hong Kong is a place that offers more than just a nice stay, food, or party. Don’t forget that its tradition and rich culture is more than 500 years old. In Hong Kong, you can find many museums, statues, parks, and centers that attract many tourists. It also has incredible skylines that you can appreciate at night, among other interesting points like street markets where you can find everything at the best price. Tourists are sometimes insecure about traveling here because they believe that it would be difficult for them to communicate with Chinese citizens. If that’s your case, then you should remember that Hong Kong was once part of a British colony, which is why many Chinese citizens can understand English very well. So, don't worry about talking to others in Hong Kong, because they’ll be able to understand and speak to you with pleasure! If you plan to make a trip to this city, we recommend you stay there for at least two weeks, as Hong Kong has many sites and islands to visit. One of the largest and best-known islands is Lantau Island, which has incredible Buddhist architecture, plenty of shops to do all the shopping you want, good food, and even its own Disneyland Park (something quite exciting if you’re planning to travel with your kids). Aside from Lantau, Hong Kong has other islands to spend the day and take a good dip in the beach. Some beautiful islands and beaches that you can visit are Cheung Chau, Golden Beach, Repulse Bay Beach, and the incredible Hap Mun Bay, where you can practice snorkel thanks to its crystal clear waters. Following the oceanic vibes, you should also visit Victoria Harbor, between the Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong. This place is popular because it was occupied by the British during the First Opium War, and that’s why they established a colony and a trading post years later. The port is famous for spectacular panoramic views, and it is a natural point of interest in the territory. Hongkongers consider it an essential natural element of the city. Hong Kong is also known as a city that doesn’t rest, and this is because there are many stores and shopping malls opened 24/7, making them an incredible point of interest for tourists and Chinese. If you’re a lover of good food and you like to expose yourself to new tastes, this destination in Asia is a great option. When traveling to Hong Kong one thing to not be forgotten is the food, of course. The best place to try real traditional Chinese food is in the street markets, and there’s no way to deny this because you can find all kinds of dishes, especially those that are spicy, salty, fried, boiled, and stir-fried. Just remember that most of their food is set with different types of vegetables and meats to balance the substantial flavor. For something new on your recurring menu, Chinese food is the right choice because of its unique extravagance. Do you want to know some recommendations? Don’t worry, we can tell you that Cart noodle can be your best companion for a daily basis since it’s not expensive and you can find this plate in almost every corner in the city. Another thing you should taste is the Pork chop bun, the Cha Siu Bao, Chinese dumpling, and Lao Po bing. When you’re ready for the snack or dessert, try to taste the delicious Gai Daan Jai accompanied by dai pai dong milk tea. Don’t forget that these are just part of the many things you can try there. For those who like unforgettable memories at night, Hong Kong has the best-known festive events and even special parties. One example of it is the popular Chinese New Year, which is celebrated between January and February of each year. The Chinese New Year distinguishes for its pompous and extravagant parties in which you can see a lot of red decorations, fireworks, and family dinners, with people ready to have a new year full of good wishes. Traditional events like Chinese New Year, Arts Month, and Hong Kong Summer Fun are just some of the many celebrations that take place in this city each year because there are many more depending on the season. The Chinese are strong believers of everything related to traditional events held in their country, so if you travel to Hong Kong, always try to respect the traditions and culture. As for the parties in Hong Kong, you can come at any time. The discos and bars in this metropolis are opened almost every night, and they’re an excellent option for young adults. A perfect spot to have the best night out is at Lan Kwai Fong. This peculiar place that is located in the center of Hong Kong, has a little bit of everything to enjoy the night. A funny thing you should know before you travel to Hong Kong is that people don’t have problems drinking alcohol on the streets, unlike other countries that have very restricted use of alcoholic beverages publicly. So, if you get a beer fresh from the fridge and want to drink it while walking down one of the streets of Hong Kong, don't worry, nobody will tell you anything. The countless shops you'll find along the streets of Hong Kong city, the markets, and even the buildings that give you an unforgettable view, add a special charm that makes Hong Kong look unique. Remember to take as many pictures as possible when you go to this city and live this experience with all that it entails. Aside from that, you shouldn’t forget that Hong Kong has been very strict with entry requirements due to certain conditions that could put any citizen in danger. Such is the case of the COVID-19 Pandemic because that influenced their immigration rules. For now on, you’ll have to apply for a Hong Kong Electronic Health Declaration Form whenever you plan to visit this country. With this document, you can confirm that you’re in good condition, and also that you took the COVID-19 test and you got negative results. However, this document could be required in the future, even after the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is why you shouldn’t overlook it.
