How long can Australian citizens stay in India?

The Tourist eVisa grants Australian citizens a maximum of 90 days in Total Per Entry and offers Multiple Entry.

What are the documents required to apply?

How can I apply for an Indian Tourist eVisa?

Can I travel to India with a refugee travel document instead of a passport?

No. All travelers who wish to apply online for their India Visa need to have a valid passport document.

If you have a refugee travel document, then you need to contact the nearest Indian Consulate to apply.

Can Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders or Laissez-passer travel document holders apply for an eVisa?

The eVisa is not available for Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders or Laissez-passer travel document holders. This also includes applicants holding an emergency/limited passport.

Can I enter India with my eVisa from any point of entry?

No. The eVisa can only be used at the following airports and seaports:

  • 28 designated Airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi & Visakhapatnam.
  • 5 designated seaports: Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai, Chennai. However, travelers can exit from any of the authorized Immigration Check Posts (ICPs) in India.

NOTE: This eVisa is not valid for entry into India from any Indian land border, only via designated airports and seaports
