Hello! I’ll be traveling to India in the last week of June to attend a conference. It’s a fully funded trip, covered by the organizing body. I initially applied for an e-Conference visa since I thought it was the most appropriate option. However, I saw in the requirements that it needs a political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs. I asked the organizer about this, but they said they can’t provide that clearance—so now I’m stuck and can’t proceed with the application. Has anyone here had a similar experience? If so, what e-Visa did you apply for instead? Would a Business or Tourist visa work in this case? Just want to make sure before I proceed. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, you cannot change your current Tourist eVisa to a Business eVisa. The eVisa once issued is non-extendable, non-convertible, and not valid for visiting Protected/Restricted and Cantonment Areas. Therefore, if you've been invited to attend a conference while in Delhi, you should apply for a new Business eVisa.
