Israel ETA

Eligibility

  • The Israel Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) is a new entry requirement for travelers from visa-exempt countries, such as the United States, Canada, most EU nations, the UK, Australia, and others.

Validity & Allowed Stay

  • The ETA allows multiple entries for short stays up to 90 days per visit, typically for tourism, business meetings, or family visits. It's valid for up to 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

Application & Processing

  • It’s completely electronic, there’s no need to visit an embassy or attach a visa to your passport.
  • You must apply before entering Israel, and approval usually takes just a few hours.

Israel eVisa*

The Israel eVisa is a digital visa for travelers who are not eligible for the ETA system or who are visiting for more than 90 days. It’s used for purposes such as tourism, business, family reunions, and medical treatment.

The visa is typically single-entry or multiple-entry, depending on your nationality and supporting documents. Processing can take several business days, so it’s recommended to apply at least 2–3 weeks before your trip.

*We currently don't offer this visa. For more info, check the Israel government website.

Israel Work Visa*

The B/1 Work Visa is issued to foreign nationals with a job offer from an Israeli employer. This includes roles in caregiving, agriculture, construction, and high-tech.

The employer must first get approval from the Ministry of Interior, and visa durations vary from several months to a few years.

*We currently don't offer this visa. For more info, check the Israel government website.

Israel Student Visa*

Students planning to study in Israel for more than three months can apply for the A/2 Student Visa. This visa requires acceptance into a recognized institution, and may allow renewal for multi-year academic programs.

Some limited work or part-time activities may be allowed depending on the institution and visa conditions.

*We currently don't offer this visa. For more info, check the Israel government website.

Israel Aliyah Visa*

Immigrants of Jewish descent or those who have converted to Judaism can apply for the Aliyah Visa, also known as immigration under the Law of Return.

This leads to an A/1 temporary resident visa and eventually to permanent residency and citizenship. The process is coordinated through the Jewish Agency and the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration.

*We currently don't offer this visa. For more info, check the Israel government website.

Israel visa policy

Israel’s visa policy depends on your nationality, purpose of travel, and intended length of stay. Whether you’re traveling for tourism, business, study, or to join family, there are multiple visa options available.

If you're a citizen of a visa-exempt country like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or most European Union nations, you can enter Israel with an Israel ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) before boarding a flight. The ETA is a digital document that allows multiple entries over a two-year period, with each stay limited to 90 days.

If you are not from a visa-exempt country, you must apply for an Israel eVisa or traditional visitor visa in advance.

For travelers who want to work in Israel, the B/1 Work Visa is required. Students planning to attend school or university in Israel for more than three months will need an A/2 Student Visa.

Under the Law of Return, individuals of Jewish heritage or converts to Judaism can apply for an Aliyah Visa, which grants the right to immigrate to Israel and leads to permanent residency and, eventually, citizenship.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, visit the official Israel Population and Immigration Authority website or consult with your local Israeli consulate.

FAQs

This depends on the visa you’re issued. If you’re unclear, you can contact us on WhatsApp – we're available 24/7.
The ETA-IL is a quick, pre-travel authorization for travelers from visa-waiver countries (like the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia). It's fully digital, valid for 2 years, and allows multiple short visits of up to 90 days each. It's ideal for tourism or short business travel.

The Israel eVisa is a full visa for non-exempt nationalities or for those planning longer stays. It typically requires more documentation, has a longer processing time, and can be single or multiple entry. Both are electronic, but the eVisa offers more flexibility for extended or special-purpose visits.
Processing times vary by visa type and embassy location. It can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks, especially during busy travel seasons.
Many travelers report thorough entry interviews, especially if they hold passports from specific countries (e.g., Syria, Lebanon, Iran) or show recent travel to such places. Another reason is to detect people who want to work illegally in the country.

If you’re asked questions, make sure to have your visa and passport on hand and answer calmly and honestly.
Yes, instead of passport stamps, you’ll receive a small landing card or visa slip. Keep this in your passport during your stay, you'll need it to leave the country.
If you're traveling with an ETA‑IL, you are permitted to stay in Israel for up to 90 days per visit. For travelers using an eVisa (B/2 Visitor Visa), the stay is also generally up to 90 days, though this may vary depending on the specific visa issued.
No, not on an ETA-IL or standard eVisa. If you plan to volunteer with a recognized organization (like a kibbutz or NGO), you must apply for a B/4 Volunteer Visa through the Israeli government.

This visa allows unpaid work for a registered program and typically lasts up to one year. Volunteering on a tourist visa or ETA is not permitted and may result in denial of entry.
You can apply for your ETA or Visitor Visa through the government or iVisa (or download our mobile app).

For other visas, you’ll need to complete the application process on the government platform, pay the visa fee, and in some cases, schedule an interview at an Israeli embassy or consulate.

Supporting documents like your passport, photo, and purpose of travel are required.
No. Neither the ETA-IL nor the standard Israel eVisa allows you to take up paid employment or join a local workforce. If you want to work in Israel, you must apply for a B/1 Work Visa, which requires a job offer from an Israeli employer and approval from the Ministry of Interior.

Attempting to work on a tourist visa or ETA may lead to deportation or a future travel ban.
The ETA‑IL cannot be extended. Once your 90-day stay ends, you are required to exit the country.

For B/2 eVisas (Visitor Visas), extensions are sometimes possible. You can apply for a visa extension through PIBA (Population & Immigration Authority) office before your current visa expires. You'll need to show a valid passport, passport photo, and proof of sufficient funds for an extension request.
Overstaying your ETA-IL, eVisa, or any visa type is a serious offense in Israel. Consequences may include fines, deportation, or being banned from returning for a period of time.
Israel does not have an official digital nomad visa, but travelers on a Visitor Visa or ETA-IL may be allowed to work remotely for a foreign employer, as long as the work isn’t related to Israeli clients or companies and you're not being paid in Israel.

This should not be the primary reason for your visit, and it’s best to carry proof that you are employed abroad and have no local income sources. Always check the latest guidance, as immigration policies are subject to change.
  • Our team of iVisa experts will review your documents to make sure you have the best chance of being approved.
  • We then send it to the government for processing on your behalf.
  • Once your visa is approved, we’ll then email you your document.

In the meantime, download the iVisa app, so you can access your travel documents while you're on the go.
